Positive: We were the first ever guests at Rio Celeste Jungle Glamping and were greeted with a delicious chocolate cake to celebrate the property's 'birthday' with the owners. We now have the honour of writing the first review. Our glamping dome was spacious and well equipped: 2x double beds, 1x single bed, armchair, table and chairs, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, and an adjacent bathroom with hot shower. We woke to toucans singing and watched them in the tree from the terrace in front of our glamping dome. They have nearly completed a communal kitchen area for the three glamping domes to share, which will be a good addition to the site. There are also several restaurants nearby for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all within 10 minutes walk. One of them had a fish farm, where you can fish for tilapia. The site feels remote and rural but is very well located. The Tenorio Volvano National Park is less than 5 minutes drive away - we reserved our entry for the earliest slot and saw capuchin monkeys, Great curassow and other amazing birds before the tour buses arrived. We then continued the trail to the waterfall, the boiling hot spring (Borbollones) and El Teñidero (the confluence of two rivers where a chemical reaction creates the bright blue Rio Celeste). Local activities include tubing and horse riding tours to a private stretch of the Rio Celeste where the magical blue water pools on a bend. There is a Tarzan swing on the way to the river. We loved it and thought it offered great value for money given its location, activities and unique remote glamping experience.

Negative: Once the communal area is completed, guests will have the ability to self cater (and we’d have given 10/10 instead of a superb 9/10)
