6 Bedroom House in St. Leonard, Saint Leonard

This 6 bedroom/6.5 Bath, manor house has been completely renovated from its original 1782 historic state. It offers modern amenities while maintaining the charm of Southern Farmhouse living.
As you enter this house from the grand pillared front porch you immediately see nothing but land and water for as far as the eye can see. The "gun room" offers a library like seating room for a quiet reprieve, additionally, a small office with a half bath is hidden behind the main stairwell. This can also be converted into an additional nanny suite if needed. A great room with a 4 ft fireplace welcomes gatherings with two separate seating areas and a card table for games. A large dining room is centered on this floor with spectacular views and enough seating for 12. This can also be accessed off the butler's pantry for ease of entertaining. The heart of this house is the large, sun filled live-in kitchen which is where families gather around the island which seat 4, the additional lounge seating in the center or another grand 10 person table. The kitchen has a separate stairwell leading to the top floor. Also, off the kitchen is a media/playroom with a pull-out couch, toy box and a place for the younger generation to relax. A full bathroom is accessed right outside of this room making it another convertible queen bedroom.
As you make your way to the true front of the house facing the river you find a spectacular screened in porch with ample seating, ping pong, pool, and breathtaking views. This is where most people find themselves spending their time at the Farm. The sunsets on this porch compete with the best in the world.
On the top floor there are 2 master suites both with King beds and water views making it easy for 2 families to share time at this home. A queen en suite bedroom overlooks the barn and horses and a double en suit room overlooks the fields. There are 2 additional rooms with 2x twin beds that share full bathroom. A dressing room/linen room can also be converted into a nursery - pack n' play/crib are available.
Behind the owner's only studio house is a large outdoor living area with a huge pool, brick patio, tiki hut style bar, hammock, children's play structure, volleyball net and sports court. This is where you can spends hours of your day while everyone is fully entertained. Otherwise, go for a 3 mile walk and never leave the property and find yourself on your own private beach or at the barns ready for a horse back riding lesson which can be arranged separately.
This is home is the perfect setting for family gatherings, entertaining and the feeling of security on your private picturesque farmland.

Summary: Well it rained ( poured) the whole week we were there. We couldn’t use the nice pool, which was a real bummer and we couldn’t go horseback riding. We still had a great time because of the pool table, the dart board and the ping pong table. In between the down pours the guys did some fishing in the pond. They caught a lot of fish (but threw them back) we did get to pet the horses and feed them carrots, which was fun. All in all, even with the bad weather , we enjoyed our stay very much. Harley, the property manager was very nice and accommodating. The whole family had a good time.

Summary: Our family recently celebrated my mother-in-laws 85th birthday here over a long weekend. It is an historic old home so there was a bit of a problem but immediately the owner helped us resolve the issue. The kitchen was well stocked so it was easy to arrive with groceries and cook several meals. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is large, and we really enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. Thank you to our hosts for making this such a memorable weekend!

Summary: My family stayed here for a week and it was lovely. If you love history, you'll find that the house is the star attraction. A gorgeous home, meticulously restored and cared for plus all the modern amenities. Spaces were large enough that we all enjoyed ourselves in one setting. The peace and solitude of the property will melt away most any stress and the beautiful pool and cabana will take care of the rest. There is plenty to do as well. We enjoyed the athletic court for pickle ball and basketball, took many a walk on the property, of course the pool, kayaking and fishing, and plenty of games on the large, screened-in porch. There is a well-apportioned kitchen and a sizeable grill and we enjoyed many nights of cooking. We didn't take advantage of the horses as none of us are riders, but it was enjoyable to see them roam and come up to the fence to greet us. All in all, a beautiful home on a spectacular property that provided a wonderful vacation for my family.

Summary: Wonderful place to gather for my family reunion. It was clean, comfortable & well stocked. We happen to be there during a heat wave, so the pool was incredible and enjoyed by all! The property manager and caretaker were easily accessible & couldn’t have been nicer. Thank you!

Summary: wonderful home with lots of common area to gather. We had a family wedding at Matoaka which was about 15 minutes away. Your home was great for us older folks who didn't want to camp or stay in cabins. Having the pool was a lovely plus as was the basketball court- a big surprise for my two grandsons. The property manager was amazing- he came out once when a toilet stopped working and again that night when we locked our pet into a bedroom. He had to climb through a window- what a sport!

Summary: This is a classic house on a rolling horse and corn farm. Tons to to with a pool, sports court and kayaking on the river (from a private beach). We had a great family gathering over the 4th. We spent a lot of our time in the pool and playing pickleball. Highly recommend.

Summary: This is an outstanding house for a family or friends get-together. The pool is beautiful and huge --with a diving board and a cabana that even had a misting machine to keep cool! There was a basketball/pickleball court, and swingset for little kids. The house has a playroom for little kids. And a HUGE screened-in porch that has an antique pool table, a ping pong table and darts, as well as several couches and eating areas to hang out and enjoy truely incredible views. The house has a ton of character and lots of room to spread out. A huge living room, two separate sitting rooms and a huge kitchen with a large table that seats around 10(?) people and a couch and sitting area and also a separate dining room with an incredibly large table. We took a lovely walk to the water (about 1/2 mile walk along fields). I unfortunately ran out of time and was not able to go kayaking. The caretaker was extremely responsive and we were allowed to check in as early as we liked and could stay at the pool as late as we liked. I would really love to go back.

Summary: We were looking for an almost-post-pandemic weeklong family getaway that kept some separation between us and others but had lots to do, and this property hit that mark beautifully. My primary impression was that everything there was authentic and approachable - they type of things you would buy for yourself if you liked nice things, as opposed to things provided for guests to check a box. This applied to the furnishings, the grill, and all the recreational options. The dining room table comfortably seated the eleven of us with room to spare in an elegant space. There was plenty of comfortable social space for cards and games, and the screened porch was a terrific, generous space, with a ping pong table, snooker table, and darts, all of which were used. The equipment was what you'd buy for yourself if you liked nice things, not just cheap things made available for rental guests. The pool area was an absolute highlight, with nice brick patio work and a great covered area for reading, napping and socializing. We loved being on such a large plot of land, and enjoyed the walk down to the river, where we enjoyed kayaking. The volleyball setup and croquet all were enjoyed, and even the pickleball court. This is an old house (see the listing), so you need to love and appreciate an old house and how hard it is to retrofit such a property with modern plumbing, a real kitchen and air conditioning. If you love an old house lovingly appreciated and maintained, you will love this. Our only (minor) disappointment was that we were looking forward to horseback riding. We didn't make arrangements ahead of time, and when we got there they were all booked up. Also, they only do lessons, not trail-type rides, which I hadn't anticipated. We enjoyed watching the horses in the pasture nonetheless. The location is not a prime one for dining in restaurants, but that's not what we were looking for. Cedric was gracious about check-in and check-out and communicating promptly, and Harley, who takes care of things on the property, was pleasant, thoughtful and helpful, again easily reachable. Recommend this property without reservation.
