Positive: Karisa, Beatrice, Naima and the rest were really lovely hosts! The pool is great, the whole place green and in bloom… and the food was very good and generous.

Negative: We were in off season so it was a bit too quiet, that all. Price wise it is a bit in the expensive side but you do get a very well maintained joint, very quiet and clean.

Positive: The gardens are beautiful and well maintained with a lovely pool. The best thing about the place is Karisa who took care of us so well. The breakfast is phenomenal too.

Negative: We had room issues as we had booked the zebra room as we wanted 2 rooms but it isn’t 2 rooms but they were so good at coming up with an alternative arrangement which worked for us well. You need to get a Tuk Tuk or taxi to get anywhere.

Positive: Maison Muge is utterly heavenly. From the photos we looked at before our stay, it was obvious the gardens around the wonderful pool were beautiful. In real life they are even more fabulous as you only truly appreciate their depth, scale and how immaculately maintained everything is when you are there. My wife and I stayed in Villa Elephant for a week over Christmas. Once again, photos do not do justice to just how high quality, clean and artfully decorated this (and the other accommodations) around the property are. We enjoyed fabulous breakfasts around the pool every morning and superb food and wine (and cocktails !) in the evening. All the lovely team at Maison Muge - the staff and the management - did everything they could / everything we needed to make our time just unforgettable. It was a superb, utterly relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable week of our lives and we (clearly !) cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful experience we had.

Positive: We absolutely loved this wonderful and homey hotel! It was the perfect place to come to when we arrived in Mombasa and a wonderful way to break up a trip if going north to Lamu Island or Watamu. The proprietors Erica, Henry and their son Patrick made us feel so welcome and are incredibly kind and genuine without being intrusive. Henry is a master baker from Switzerland who taught the staff to make specialty breads and we were delighted to have some of the BEST croissants we have ever tasted (including the ones in Paris.) The pool is delightful and the grounds are gorgeously landscaped.

Summary: Absolutely LOVELY family owned hotel-we are so happy we stayed there!

Positive: The facility is clean, cool, serene and calming. Loved the towels and the bathrooms. Staff are polite and responsive.

Negative: The AC was a bit complicated, but the fan in the room came in handy. A wider variety of what's on offer for breakfast would also be great, though what was served was good!
