Positive: Hotel is located in a beautiful location. Staff are super helpful and friendly. The wellness area and the spa are nice but could use some updating.

Negative: Our shower made a noise when the water was running. It was also a little rundown. The major thing that we didn't like was the breakfast and the food at the restaurant. For a hotel at this level and considering the fact that there is not much else in the area as far as restaurants, we expected a better quality of food. It was clear that they were not using fresh ingredients which is shocking for Italy where there is an abundance of fresh vegetables, etc.

Summary: It was a nice stay, great location but the quality of food at the restaurant was very disappointing.

Negative: We were at the hotel in early November and at night it got a little warm in the room. Unfortunately the hotel had turned off its air conditioning and we were not able to open our windows because stink bugs came into the room. Otherwise the hotel was excellent.

Positive: Location.

Negative: Based on location we expected mountain view. Repeated requests to change room were refused even paying upgrade. Excuses given regarding hosting a wedding, then conference etc please try tomorrow . Perhaps more attention given to guests staying for leisure purposes would have been appreciated. Best to check when booking if room has a view. Roadside signage very poor especially if arriving at night and parking signage very confusing. Food was very good and staff very friendly especially on arrival - (a member of reception staff at check out was quite rude to us apparently we had interrupted their break.!)

Positive: We booked a suite which was spacious and well appointed. Our stay was during hot weather and we loved the pool as it was great for relaxing and cooling off. Meals were very good. We had breakfast, a few lunches and one dinner. The wait staff were attentive and friendly.

Negative: A few areas where I marked down this hotel. Check in was chaotic. We drove to the resort and had no idea where to park or drop our luggage- signage is poor. We ended up in the staff carpark and lugged our bags up the hill. The clerk at check in seemed quite disinterested in us and didn’t give us any information about the hotel or facilities- not a good start. Our bed was so uncomfortable. The mattress desperately needs replacing. I had a sore back after the second night. A fluffy mattress ‘topper’ does not make up for a mattress well past its ‘use-by’ date. Given we paid for a suite I was not impressed. Also, the shower over a bath in a suite- dangerous getting in and out, nothing to hold on to for safety. Finally, the hotel should run a shuttle bus to the town of Barga. The availability of taxis is a problem and having to book a return in case you can’t get back to the hotel would be resolved with a shuttle minibus. Talking to other guests during the course of our stay we agreed this would be a great service to the customers.
