A lovely rustic traditional stone-built property situated in peaceful rural Loire Valley. Sleeps 4-6 persons (1 Double bedroom and 1 Family room). On the ground floor there is a small double bedroom, a bathroom (shower only), a kitchen with a dining area and a lounge. On the first floor, there is a large family room with a king-sized bed and two single beds which convert into a seating area if not in use. Please note that the upstairs bedroom does not have a door, and is accessed via the main staircase in the lounge downstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a microwave, gas hob and oven, toaster, hob-kettle, and fridge with a small freezer compartment. There is seating for up to 6 people. The bathroom has a shower only (no bath) and also has a washing machine for guests. The lounge has two sofas (1 sofa-bed if required), a wood burner for off-peak season, a TV and DVD player, and plenty of DVDs and books for use by guests. Please note that the property does not have wifi.
Outside, the property is situated on what was once a farm - and is positioned opposite the main farmhouse which is also a holiday home. The property has a small patio area at the rear with a table, chairs and a BBQ in season. There is also a large orchard and playing field at the rear of the property for games. There is a swimming pool during the summer season, which is enclosed, and equipped with sun loungers, a seating area and an outside shower.
The property is a 10 minute rural walk to the nearest village, Le Guedeniau, where there is a local bakery (and sweet shop!), and a bar/restaurant. The nearest town, Bauge, is a 5-10 minute drive away, where there are supermarkets, a town centre, Chateau and town square, bars, shops, golf course and banks etc.
Larger cities such as historic Saumur and Angers, are a 25-30 minute drive away which boast some beautiful Chateaux and great shopping areas.
Local to the property (a 20 minute walk or a 3 minute drive) is the Chandelais forest which is lovely for cycling and walking. There is an adventure sports centre 5 minutes drive away, which has a great tree-climbing facility that is very popular for children and teenagers, and there are also a number of local very reasonably priced horse-riding centres which the property owners can provide contact details for.
For wine-lovers, the Loire area has some fantastic wines and there are a number of vineyards within the local area.
For car-lovers, Le Mans is a 40 minute drive away, which boasts the 24 hour Le Mans race circuit and museum.

Summary: This is a very nice cottage in a rural setting, so a good place to get away from it all. Walking and cycling in the area is very nice with well signposted routes. (we really enjoyed our visit to chateau de Montgeoffroy). There is a small village about 20 minutes walk away, but unfortunately for us the baker was closed for most of the time, possibly due to road works in the village square. The lane at the front of the cottage was also quite busy, which surprised us, but could also have been related to the road works. We enjoyed the pool in the large back garden, but could have done with a parasol for some shade (i think we were there in the hottest week of the year so far!) All in all this is a nice cottage, but needs a bit of TLC to bring out its full potential.

Summary: We found the property could do with some t.l.c e.g back door once locked you could still open and the pool could really benefit from being heated also a few more spare light bulbs would have been handy as some were not working which is a pain when you turn on at 8. O’clock in the evening on first night. There was no local shop in the village for basic foods etc and you have to drive to Bauge for this. There is a local bakers which was shut while we were there. On the plus side we were very pleased with the welcome pack we received as after a long drive it was very rewarding. Overall we had a very relaxing stay and recommend this for a nice quiet, relaxing break.

Summary: The property was perfect for us. Two adults and two young children. Very well equipped kitchen and perfect having English channels on the tv. The pool is such a lovely setting and the patio is just perfect for a quiet private bbq in the evening. The kids loved running around the orchard and we even got a visit from the neighbours cows. I had a run into the village boulangerie, which was just a perfect distance, but loads of supermarkets within a small drive. Highly recommend the market at la flech every wednesday for oysters and muscles. We would love to stay again.

Summary: We had a great stay in this little gite. It is a lovely basic place with a great pool in a very rural setting. The kitchen is small but adequate and the beds are comfortable. We spent relaxing days by the pool enjoying some French delicacies and used the gite as a base to explore the surroundings and visit some of the great wineries to be found in the Loire Valley. We quite enjoyed the privacy of the property although the nearest supermarket could be a little closer. Overall it was a great stay. Recommended for those who want to spend the day by the pool watching the local cows graze the adjacent field.

Summary: 3 of us have just spent a wonderful 10 days in this quaint very french cottage. Very quiet location with great pool, village bakery and bar few minutes by car. Large Super U supermarket in Bauge 10 minutes away. It was 40 degrees but we were supplied with several fans which were needed. All in all we would go again, very reasonably priced and lots of places to visit within easy reach. Contact with English owners excellent before we arrived

Summary: Le Petit Cabarets is situated in the beautiful Loire Valley and is the perfect place to retreat to if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. It is completely private and well looked after by Heather and Yvonne. We were incredibly impressed by the luxury provided and thoughtful touches like the bubbly and chocolate on arrival! The gite is well - equipped with everything you could possibly need and is ideal for families who would like some privacy and a good base to explore the area. The private pool, BBQ and board games were real highlights for us and the pictures really don't do the place justice. We would highly recommend and are hoping to return next year!

Summary: This very French farmhouse was ideally located near the village of Le Guedeniau where there is a very good bakery and bar. Also it’s only a short drive to the town of Bauge-en-Anjou where there are supermarkets and cafes etc. The property had a beautiful swimming pool set in a large field above the cottage. We enjoyed our stay there and found the owner Heather and local contact Yvonne very helpful with any queries we had. This property would certainly suit a family with older children who would enjoy the swimming pool and the spacious surroundings.

Summary: This gite suited our needs perfectly. Rural, surrounded by beautiful agricultural land and very quiet for a real unwind. Loads of space for playing family games outdoors and a fantastic pool solely for use by the gite's occupants. The kitchen was well catered for; a home from home. Comfy sofas and beds. Easy parking. Nearby town of Baugé was an interesting place to visit.

Summary: Perfect for our family holiday and even accommodated 2 adult friends also who joined us for a few days. Very clean and comfortable. Whilst quite basic and small, the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay (even a lovely welcome basket on arrival with local wine, chocolate and basic provisions!) and a BBQ outside which we frequently made use of. The Gite is set in a beautifully quite, rural location which is incredibly relaxing. Of course the pool was amazing (and actually even better than it looked on the web site); again with everything we needed (sun loungers, inflatables for the kids) and was regularly cleaned by the owners lovely local contact. Turning right out of the front door and we were instantly in a sunflower field, perfect for walking our little dog. Turning left took us to the quiet road which led (a 10 min walk) into the charming local village complete with bakery where we were able to get fresh bread every morning. Behind the property, as well as the pool is a vast garden area and orchard, perfect for the children to run around in. Despite it being very rural, we were never far away from things to do (larger towns, castles of the Loire, a local forest, Parcour (like a very large and exhilarating Go Ape), winery......... we will definitely be making a return visit as after 2 weeks have only just scratched the surface! We were also lucky enough to meet Heather (the family owner of the Gite), who had been so helpful on the run up to our stay (even booking an appointment at a local vet for us to attend with our dog before we returned to the UK). Overall this has been an amazing family holiday which we will remember with fondness and will most certainly repeat! Thank you Heather!
