Positive: The smell of lilacs by the pool was incredible! Our suite was so charming and a perfect place to relax.

Negative: If you are looking for lots of surrounding activities in village this is not your place. It is an incredible escape retreat to stay.

Positive: Lovely historic Chef-Patron owned Hotel with a 1 Michelin ⭐️ Restaurant and Bistro. Beautiful buildings and interesting grounds. The 1⭐️ is only open on certain days, so wise to check if you’re booking for that Restaurant especially. Bistrô Gaby provided tasty food. All the staff were welcoming, including the Chef-Patron himself and his lovely dog. Lovely, comfortable authentically decorated room. Superb outdoor Pool accessed via a beautiful garden path. Good Parking. We would have liked to have stayed longer. Loved the relaxed yet quality vibe and intend to return.

Negative: Nothing really. Maybe minor difficulty initially in knowing where to go to request drinks etc. No obvious Bar, other than in Gaby, orders taken by staff and delivered to wherever you’re sitting.

Summary: We wish to return, lovely Hotel, good food and a great outdoor Pool. Good Parking.

Positive: Very nice B&B situated in quiet Chateau-Arnoux Saint-Auban. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, the pool is wide and deep enough for a good swim. The staff is attentive. The restaurant is a Michelin one star so not your average $30 - $60 menu, but I really enjoyed the cuisine.

Positive: We arrived at La Bonne Etape after a long car ride - were feeling tired . This hotel had been selected as our " splurge " hotel as it had a Michelin star restaurant and was a Chateau and Relais hotel. When we arrived we were greeted outside the front doors by our wonderful host Stephanie. She was most welcoming - got us settled and made us a reservation for dinner at Cafe Gabby. It was so nice not to have to go out to find a restaurant - ate at Gabby twice.Our Michelin star meal was for our last night.Our room was spacious and had a lovely view of the pool , mountains and gardens.A carafe of water, biscuits and a lovely welcoming note were left in our room - a such a nice touch. Stephanie suggested what to do in the area and as well as walking trails close by.The public spaces were beautiful - filled with elegant furnishings and paintings. Our final dinner at Bonne Etape was beyond expectation - had wine pairings with the courses - amazing service, beautiful presentation on lovely serving dishes - very polished service.The Master Chef came around after the meal to see if we enjoyed our meal- an unexpected but very special surprise. Tuck in service in our room was appreciated each night with a special herbal tea and " jelly" candy! Tourist Brochure in the room was very handy. Huge fan of L'Occtaine - which was the toiletry product used.

Negative: There were two very minor things in our room- towel warmer did not work and shower head was hard to aim so it did not flood the floor. Minor paint touch ups needed in the bathroom. In Cafe Gaby - upgrade the wine glasses ( small and not great quality) - did not match the quality of wine offered on the wine list plus provide a toaster for guests to use at breakfast, so staff member does not have to go back to the kitchen to toast bread.

Summary: Exceptional property, service, and a Michelin star restaurant - a haven after a long road trip!
