Positive: The location of the property is superb! It’s quite magical to be by the water’s edge and to sit on the private jetty, when it’s dark, listening to the frogs and star gazing, is fabulous. The Refugio is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and Marcia is a delight and serves a great breakfast…
Negative: It was a surprise to find that there wasn’t electricity all day, it was off from midnight until 8am and also from 1pm to 7pm. Quite difficult when you also find you have no phone signal and are trying to pay on arrival! As it happens cash is really the only option. There are no fans or air con and whilst the design of the property is great, those huge glass windows are a problem when it’s 34 degrees!

Positive: Stunning view and peaceful location, immaculately clean throughout including the bedrooms a shared kitchen area, beautiful unique building and rustic decor. Above all, though, it was Marcia - the lady who runs guest care at Refuge del Chucao - who made the experience truly unforgettable. Marcia’s kindness and care is one in a million. Highly recommended!

Positive: This refugio is in a superb location by a tranquil lake you can watch the sunset and just relax, or go kayaking - very wonderful. The shared space - kitchen, living room etc open plan and has everything you need. The bedroom and en suite were super - comfortable bed and great and clean showers. Our hosts and housekeeper were very Hospitable and shared tips and ideas and stories which made our trip truly memorable. This part of the world is very special and you would have a great time spending it here.

Positive: The location is beautiful, right on the lake. Every room has a wonderful view. The room is on the small side, but very comfortable. The shared living space and kitchen works well and we met some very nice people that way. We paid for breakfast, which was delicious. Please note that there is not 24-hour electricity here - it is on at certain times and that was not a problem for us at all.
