Positive: It's a lovely (big) pub which was very busy with diners on the night we stayed (near to Christmas) but all the same the food was good and the service prompt. Good beers on handpull and our room was clean and comfortable. We didn't hear the pub once we were in our room, the room was compact but had what we needed and the shower room was well appointed with a spacious walk in shower.

Negative: Some noise from the corridor as other guests went by (room opens directly onto corridor with no inner hall / buffer) and we were the first room on the landing so everyone had to pass our door.

Positive: Food here is excellent, and we had lunch dinner and breakfast. The friendly table service is brilliant and we look forward to another visit next year. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcome

Negative: We didn't find the mattress very comfortable but otherwise it's a great place to stay
