Summary: Large pub and restaurant with a good number of rooms. On site parking (which guests don't pay for, register your car at hotel reception). Room was comfortable, but hot (a fan was provided). Breakfast was good, though the staff were under pressure because most guests seemed to arrive around 8.15am on Saturday and expected to be immediately seated. I'd suggest checking with Reception on breakfast patterns if you are in a hurry. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Summary: As always, we were well looked after by the friendly Red Lion team. Our room was comfortable and clean, and up to expectations. Meals in the hotel restaurant were good, with a good variety on the menu. The hotel makes an ideal base for visiting the area and its attractions.

Summary: As I approached the Red Lion, I was put off by the shabby state of the exterior. However, upon arrival, I was greeted by a charming Receptionist and was advised that I had been upgraded. My room, however, seemed to be the standard room for a Greene King hotel. Unfortunately, the room was roasting hot when I arrived; a small table fan was provided but it did little to cool or move the air. The bar area was very busy with all the tables taken up by customers. After an excessive wait to buy a drink, I enquired about a table to be informed that the restaurant was reserved for the quiz! A strange decision to give priority to quizzers over diners. The rather rude Restaurant Manager and her flippant manner told me that I had to find a table in the bar and so, inconsiderately, I jumped on to a table for 6 as it became free just to have somewhere to eat! The food was awful! The salmon fishcakes had soaked up the oil and had started to beak up. The poached egg was uncooked with runny white and the tasteless Hollandaise sauce bore no reference to the classic accompaniment! Breakfast was well arranged and well managed by 2 older ladies. My assessment of the Red Lion Hotel is that it could do a lot better and the Restaurant and Bar staff need training in customer service. Unlikely to return.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay, great location, close to train station and shopping centre. Stairs very creaky but to be expected in an old building.

Summary: This hotel has been known to 4 generations of my family and I wanted to experience it and Fareham for myself. The hotel was great - and the range of breakfast items and friendly attentiveness of the breakfast staff was exceptional. The hotel is well placed for Fareham centre.

Summary: Breakfast staff welcoming and service very good. Bed was comfortable but mattress was extremely deep and was very difficult to get into bed because my legs didn't reach the floor when I sat down. The door to the room was extremely difficult to unlock, needing two hands to work the mechanism.

Summary: We stayed in this hotel for two nights it was lovely, central to amenities and people/staff were very friendly and very helpful, I do think the rooms need updating a little bit but they were comfortable and the TVs are not smart TVs so there is no option of netflix etc which most hotels have these days
