Positive: No expense was spared in the design of this wonderful apartment. It has all the amenities, air condition, kitchen utilities and washing machine, two comfortable bedrooms with enormous storage space, a modern bathroom, a living room with sweeping views of the landscape from an enormous window and a fireplace, a patio and an even larger roof top with all the requisite outdoor furniture and barbeque pit. Down a flight of steps is a refreshing pool with umbrellas and comfortable lounging chairs. A large olive grove extends in the back. (The pool is shared with guests in the one bedroom apartment on the ground floor apartment that belongs to a sibling of the owners.) There is indoor parking. We stayed for three nights and in retrospect would have been happy to stay for a week. Ragalna is a small village but centrally located in eastern Sicily, less than an hour by car to Catania or Taormina. I attach some photos, all but the bathroom and main bedroom which were in use at the time. Our hostess, Giulianna, was most gracious and generous with her time. Our rental car broke down in the evening on our way to Rahal, and she made numerous phone calls to help resolve our problems. Throughout our stay she made helpful suggestions supplementing the folder she had compiled with detailed useful information on the surroundings.

Negative: Nothing really, everything was up to and even beyond our expectations. The one drawback was the stairs leading to the apartment which proved a bit difficult but manageable with two large suitcases.

Summary: Highly recommended! Should we visit Sicily again, we'd love to return to Rahal.

Positive: Rahal Etna is a very exceptional and comfortable place (with huge attention to details). Close to Catania and just behind the Etna volcano offers a very high level stay. The place is very spacious with magnificent decor, quality amenities, super comfy beds (and pillows to choose). The view is simply breathtaking. Pool is large and very nicely kept with summer veranda to chill and hang out. You have plenty of space outside with umbrellas and sunbeds. Giuliana (the host) has been extremely helpful, super quckly reacting to our questions and making excellent suggestions for the area. BTW: there was also pasta and all needed ingredients waiting for us (not to mention a nice bottle of wine). Highly recommended.

Positive: Beautiful property and fantastic support from Giuliana

Negative: We went in October and it was around 25degC. In October, the sun is not high enough in the sky to shine on the pool as there are trees in the way. This meant the pool was in the shade all day except for around 1 hour before sunset. The pool was absolutely freezing cold and pretty unbearable for more than a quick plunge. We had our 5 month old baby and it was far too cold for her, which was a shame. This was our only gripe as everything else was great. The host can't do anything about this now the trees are there but just something for others who plan on visiting out with the height of summer.

Positive: Very modern house , with very very nice pool with view , even the shower room with a view , plus tasteful deco. The Host, Giuliana is magnificent, extremely caring for guests . Immediate response to assist your request and restaurant n winery booking.

Positive: Everything. The host was always there to help us with information and tips, She was so thoughtful as i was travelling with small kids. She prepared a changing table, toys and we got some yougurt in the fridge that the kids loved. We also enjoyed wine that she left for me and my husband. The pool was the highlight of the house. Our host Giuliana is fantastic and i recommend this house for anyone travelling with small kids. You will feel well taken care of :).
