Positive: The location is nice if you want to be away from anywhere busy. It's right next to a quiet river, at the bottom of a hill and you can really enjoy the silence of nature. The outdoor area has been made really nice. We enjoyed having our dinner and breakfast there. The cottage itself looks pretty on the outside and is quite comfortable on the inside. The amount of space was adequate for us and the bed was comfortable. The kitchenette was fit for purpose.

Negative: There were a few things that affected our experience. The TV didn't want to switch on and, in fact, it electrocuted my husband when he tried. The lighting in the sitting room/kitchen could have been better. There were screeching noises in the ceiling in the bedroom the whole night suggesting there might be mice living under the roof - these noises weren't conducive for a peaceful night's sleep. Finally, the lady who met us at check-in wasn't very friendly. And in the morning she seemed quite keen for us to leave as she put a bucket with cleaning products on our porch with an expression that suggested we needed to hurry up and go. She didn't even ask us how our stay had been. We felt like we were a nuisance. Plus, the host to this date still hasn't provided us with an invoice and is not responding to our requests.

Positive: This place is a true gem - amazing. Nature, beautiful garden, a river just next to the house, silence. Also inside the house everything we needed - kitchen, beautiful fireplace, everything clean and cozy. We really enjoyed this wonderful place.

Positive: Beautiful, peaceful location just above the river (Rio Paiva), a very clean river. The owners were attentive: at first we had no hot water but as soon as we mentioned it, the owner came and turned it on at a switch we hadn't discovered! There is a wood-burning salamander in the living room, as well as a plug-in heater in the bedroom, very cosy if the weather turns colder. Fuel was left ready for us to use. There is a nice covered veranda where you can sit outside with a drink or light meal. There were plenty of towels and warm bedding. The nearby village has a couple of well-stocked mini-markets and cafés.

Negative: It's worth mentioning that the access is down a steep track for the last kilometre or so, but there are a couple of arrows to keep you right, and we managed it no problem in a 20-year-old Clio. Sadly, much of the surrounding area was burned by wildfires in September 2024 but the Quinta escaped and is an oasis of greenery.
