Dock access is gated and offers a slip for canoes, kayaks, and rowboats if you choose to bring them. The Shell Cottage sits right on a canal in King Salmon, a fishing village just six and a half miles south of Eureka, where you can find several malls, theaters, convenience stores, dining options, and more! The thriving arts communities in Victorian Ferndale, Arcata, and Eureka have much to offer day and night, including live shows, art exhibits, and community events. Del Arte in Blue Lake always puts on incredible, innovative shows. If anyone in your group is a cinephile, a little further away, they can find Prairie Creek State Park (where Return of the Jedi was filmed) and Fern Canyon (where Jurassic Park was filmed); both are 54 and 58.5 miles away, respectively.

Summary: Shell cottage was the perfect spot to stay while visiting Eureka. It was nice to be close to easy walking trails and have so much gated space for the dog. The house was really comfortable and had everything we needed during our visit! Would love to come back and take advantage of the dock area.

Summary: From the moment I walked in there was soft music playing. It is a beautiful, clean, beautifully decorated ,well kept home. The neighborhood is so quiet. I didn’t hear a siren the whole time I was there, heard voices maybe a couple times and a dog bark once it’s so peaceful so quiet. Clean……,::everyone I talk to was more than helpful above and beyond. I want to live here forever.

Summary: the house is perfectly located. You can get a Uber if you decide to go somewhere in town or in my case visit your college student and still have a nice safe place for you your family and your fur babies. I definitely will be back.

Summary: I brought my husky up from LA to experience the Redwoods. We had a blast and were so comfy every night in this lovely little house. The yard is fully enclosed with good tall fences so I felt confident leaving the door open while we were at home so she could lay in the sun. The kitchen was fully equipped and we even enjoyed veggie burgers on the propane grill out back. Easy street parking for single vehicle directly in front of home. The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant, including the RV park across the way. Morning and evening walks to the beach were more than welcomed by my canine companion. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout the home. I highly recommend this vacation home .

Summary: Loved the shell cottage! Everything we needed for a weekend exploring Eureka and the area. Fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. Everything went great - even had time to enjoy one of the jigsaw puzzles a previous guest had left behind!
