Positive: The hotel had a beautiful lobby with warm decor. Hotel guests sat by the fire and drank tea/coffee and played games. Everyone was friendly. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel employees were helpful and responsive. Loved being close to Japantown, where there's good food, shopping, and massage (highly recommend Jan Massage in basement on Post Street) and the Fillmore district.
Negative: One night I got back late and had to ring the buzzer several times before I was let in. I'm glad the hotel door is always locked, but I thought I would not be able to get in!
Summary: Clean rooms, nice breakfast, friendly staff, great lobby with free coffee/tea.

Positive: Beautiful historic hotel with grand staircases and winding hallways. Elagant lobby serving Cookies and Sherry in the afternoon. Is there a ghost? I think I'll need to visit again to find out more.

Positive: Loved the decor. Well kept and clean! Bed was super comfortable.

Negative: Not a great first impression was made when front desk lady came across as condescending when I asked about parking and she said ‘it’s right there-across the street’ like I had been there before.

Positive: The room was quant and sweet, breakfast was nice and the little touches like free sherry and cookies every day were very sweet. Great location close to Japantown - it's a little far from the centre but I wanted to stay somewhere a bit more quiet and there's loads of public transport around.
Negative: Appreciate that the hotel is old but certain elements were a bit run down and could have used a freshen up. Also unfortunately as I was in the lobby waiting for my car to the airport I did see a mouse. I told the receptionist who didn't really seem that bothered!

Positive: The common areas were uncommonly comfortable, with two large lobby areas, each with a fireplace. Many guests enjoyed these special spaces. Also, the location in Japantown had many excellent restaurant choices.
