Negative: All good - but at the time of writing, kitchen was closed on Monday evenings, though alternative dining is available nearby.

Positive: Very close to M6 and we loved that it wasn’t part of a chain of hotels. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our ‘standard double’ room was huge with a lovely view of the canal. The live singer on Saturday night was an added bonus.

Summary: Great hotel. We will definitely return.

Positive: The location next to the canal was great, plus the bar come restaurant area.

Negative: The room we booked into had single beds, not what I requested but this was not a problem, plus if I knew the kitchen extraction fan was going to run all night, I would have tried to change the room,but that was my mistake.

Positive: Breakfast very good. Room well appointed and spotlessly clean with very comfortable bed. Lovely setting. Staff v helpful.

Negative: It was Sunday evening, we were delayed arriving by satnav giving up in Lancaster and probably the normal chef had gone after a long shift but supper felt as if it had been warmed up from lunch. service was excellent and friendly and dining room comfortable However breakfast the following morning was perfectly cooked and delicious. View of swans preening through the window too. Service again very friendly and efficient.

Summary: Good spot, worth searching for, room very well appointed, clean and super comfortable bed.
