Positive: Peem was amazing and so very helpful. Joe is an exceptional teacher and chief!This is a beautiful refuge for rest and relaxation as you make your way around Bangkok.

Negative: I made a mistake with my dates and Booking would not refund. I realized this within 24 hours of booking. Seems like this could have been honored. People make mistakes, you know.

Positive: Beautiful property , can only get to property via there own private boat which was fantastic but if you arrive via taxi on hotel side have to walk down alleys .

Negative: No shower facilities , no iron in room, bar at pool was a bit of a let down, could be better as nothing was set out drinks wise just stacked boxes . And had to wait for a while before a member of staff served us drinks .

Positive: The hotel was a bit of a hassle to get to. It also seemed eerily empty. There was no phone in the room or room service which was a bummer. The cleaning person didn’t check in on the 2nd night so we ran out of TP and water. If you want to enjoy the hotel, I’d say stay one night max. I wouldn’t go back to stay there again.

Positive: The staff were impeccable. The food was outstanding, and the cocktails at happy hour(s) were first rate. The grounds are lovely, and the private boat to take you across the river was great. We had an early departure, so they packed us breakfast to take with us, which was really sweet.

Negative: The beds are hard. Rock hard. There should be CLEAR information on how to get to the hotel. There is NO road access. Go to Pier 13, call the hotel (it's directly opposite the pier), and they will send the boat over to collect you.

Positive: Super friendly welcome and exceptional location. The building is grand and it feels like you are catapulted back in time. It is a calm and relaxing haven from the busy city and it is wonderful to cross the river every day. The staff make it very easy. The breakfast is delicious and the breakfast room quite luxurious. The swimming pool is excellent.

Negative: The room is slightly tired and dark, but I guess that adds to the charm. Many mosquitoes.

Positive: Look of the hotel, colonial style rooms, Michelin star restaurant, very funky location of the hotel - we came by taxi and had to walk about 500m to the hotel through the slams at the back of the hotel. Was a very funny experience. Good we didn't have too many bags with us. If to cross the river with hotel shuttle boat, you find yourself right in the centre, which is very convenient.

Negative: Probably hotel should warn better the guests about taking the boat from the station across the river. This information is written on hotel page, but I was very busy and didn't pay attention. Probably number of warnings via email or WhatsApp would help.

Summary: Excellent colonial style stay. Real quiet gem hidden in the centre of Bangkok.

Positive: The staff in the hotel were just absolutely lovely. Everyone from the restaurant staff to the front desk staff to the boat captains were such sweethearts. They also very very kindly let me check in early, which was so appreciated. It was such a comfortable stay and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Negative: The property is only accessible by boat which I found a really fun aspect of it. However, this may make it difficult for those with mobility issues. The boat pier is near khao san road, and the pier closes at 8pm. After that time, you'll need to call the hotel to ask them to send the boat for you. The boat runs 24 hours so you'll have no trouble getting back, but it's something to be mindful of if you don't have phone service or if you're coming back after a big night out.
