Year round upstate retreat: Privacy and seclusion abound! Located on a quiet country road, this 3 bedroom contemporary home sleeps 8 and is situated on the site of a former apple orchard. This spacious property has 10+ acres, mature gardens, in ground pool and a pond.
This bright and sunny home is so relaxing you may find you never want to leave, however, if you do venture out, you will find a rich social scene and culture as we are just 10 minutes from the hip town of Hudson, NY. With fine restaurants, shopping, art galleries and antique stores galore, Hudson is sure to be a hit for young and old.
Nearby Copake Lake offers water sports and fishing in the summer; Catamount & the Berkshires are nearby for skiing and tubing in winter, the historic town of Chatham and OMI art park just some of the many other activities nearby.
The main floor of this bright and sunny home features a newly renovated kitchen as well as soaring 20ft ceilings and sky lights. With both a wood burning stove and fireplace you will be very cozy both day and night.
Two bedrooms and two fully renovated bathrooms (one with an over sized soaking tub) are also located in the main part of the home. Down a short hallway you will find the secluded master suite, also with a fully renovated bathroom, wood burning stove and skylights.
Outside the home features extensive acreage for children to explore as well as plenty of decks and screened in porch for relaxation.

Summary: It’s a beautiful house and property. So comfortable and easy to live in. We worked, relaxed and entertained friends. Dog-friendly and full of things to entertain visiting children. Feels like you’re remote but you’re 15 minutes from everything. And the pool was delightful during the hot month of July. The hosts were always available, helpful and gracious. Can’t wait to come back!

Summary: We booked a month in Jan/Feb 2022and the temps were consistently in the single digits, subzero and teens. We experienced every kind of brutal cold: sunny, cloudy, stormy, windy, snowy, rainy AND STILL we had a wonderful stay. This was just what we needed actually. We wanted to see what it would be like to live upstate during the dark days of winter. We also needed a slower place for our son to learn to drive and take a road test. The owners were attentive and concerned about the weather and came by with extra wood/starter for the fireplace and wood stoves and new flashlights in case we needed them. Robert checked in on us regularly and it was very much appreciated. The house is located just a few minutes drive from Hudson, Hillsdale, Ghent and our favorite Hawthorne Valley Farm Store. It was a perfect location for a new driver to learn. Columbia County ReStore is also a great place to pop in and browse secondhand home goods. Note that many restaurants are open only 3-4 days a week off season, so the choices are limited on Mon-Wed. High Falls Pizza was always open and very good. We’d love to go back when it’s warm and enjoy the pool and pond.

Summary: We rented Robert & Shannan’s house for a little over a month this spring and had a wonderful time. The house was much nicer than we were expecting, and is set in a beautiful spot surrounded by a great lawn, trees, and pond. The house is really well outfitted for longer-term rentals: the beds are comfy, the towels are nice, and you’ll find pretty much whatever you could need in the kitchen (toaster, blender, coffee grinder, decent knives, etc…). My husband and I both worked from the house during our stay, and we had no problem with the wifi - even though we’re both on video calls at least half the time. Cell service worked perfectly fine. Robert was super helpful / responsive to our questions and helped with whatever we needed. Overall, we would definitely stay at the house again!

Summary: We LOVED our 6-month rental and were very sad to see it end! Robert could not have been more helpful and attentive, and his beautiful house was perfect for our family. Swimming in the pool and picking apples in the fall, sledding and ice skating in the winter (all on the property!), it is a house for every season. We definitely hope to return.

Summary: We had a wonderful time and were thankful to be at the house. There are many, many attributes to being there. The one disappointment was the cleanliness. A deep cleaning needs to be done then it will be perfect.
