Positive: We really enjoyed our stay at Petrified Forest Rest Camo. The home-cooked dinner preparated by the family was delicious and authentic, and we shared interesting conversations with our host about his life and Namibia. Beautiful desert views, stunning sunset and an amazing starry night.

Positive: We had such a memorable experience staying with Eddy and his family. The place is lovely, on a beautiful piece of land, and has all you need. But… it’s the people that really sets this place apart. The first night we arrived, we chatted for hours just getting to know one another and wow… they are truly amazing humans! They shared their hope and vision for this place was “to come as a guest and leave as a friend” a motto that is so evident in how they run the place. We had only planned to stay for one night and continue on our way the next day. However, after some unexpected car trouble, they graciously let us stay again the following night. After hearing of our troubles, Eddy immediately took the tire off of his own truck so we could have a spare while we were getting our car fixed. Namibia offers a ton of amazing things to a tourist, but meeting Eddy and his family was definitely the highlight of our trip here. We’ve never been greeted by such kindness and hospitality. We are so grateful to have met everyone. If you have the opportunity to stay here, you won’t regret it. I guarantee it will be one of the most memorable parts of your trip!

Positive: The hosts gave us an excellent insight into life in Namibia. Thank you so much for sharing with us. The owners built up this rest camp bit by bit themselves and plan a further expansion. A splendid place to stay. A meal plan can be arranged and the food is excellent. We even were served a traditional Damara dinner! Keep up your hard work and excellent service.

Positive: Very kind and friendly people, who managed the restcamp. You got a family atmosphere with the arrival there. On the first view, it`s a little bit raw. But the charlets are so charming and you see: less is more! If I come back once again to Namibia, I will go here again. - also looking what the nice people develop on her piece of land!!!

Positive: Rural Namibia is not equipped for accommodating travellers on overnight stays. There are either campsites for tourists driving around with their rooftop-tented rentals or there are lodges which are in most cases ridiculously expensive, considering what you get for your money. There’s nothing in between. So, Letty and Eddy found a niche here and they deserve all the cudos for that. Just a clean, quiet overnight resting place for people who actually travel and not just follow the pre-booked itinerary of a lodge group like a flock of sheep in four-wheel drive. And for all the people who come to Namibia and are actually interested in meeting one or two local people from the country, this is your place to go - here is a family who built themselves a small tourist business without a big money-lodge chain in the back and they actually do deserve to be successful with that.
Negative: In the room description there’s a spa-bath/whirlpool stated. This does not exist, so don’t fall for that. But with a little bit of common sense it should be clear that you shouldn’t expect something like this in an accommodation like that. Just putting it out here, so that people don’t end up disappointed.
