Positive: We booked Perkins cottage as a base for a family get together between Christmas and New Year. Lisa, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful through all stages of our booking and stay. She was easy to contact and resolved a couple of issues we had even before our stay started. The property itself is well laid out, bright and modern for an old cottage. It was spotlessly clean and really felt like a cosy home from home. The fittings and furnishings are not just run of the mill. They are quality and make the accommodation feel comfortable and homely. There was plenty of seating in the living room and the beds were exceptionally comfy. We went out visiting several places which were all in a short distance of the property. Hardwick Hall, Linacre reservoir, Heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath to name just a few. This was an ideal base.
Negative: Our only criticism was the local pub. The lady serving was very unwelcoming and most unusual for a country pub, they didn't allow dogs. 6 of us were going to eat in there but they can obviously afford to throw away trade. We did find some very nice pubs in Ashover though with very friendly bar staff

Positive: The cottage was decorated beautifully and had a cosy feel to it as we wanted. We found all kitchen utensils that we needed..Host was very gracious and helpful. We even had a lovely bottle of wine to welcome us!
Negative: Some more kitchen and toilet rolls.. but minor point.
Summary: Had a great time with family and made lovely memories there..

Positive: Lisa was a fabulous host. She was very responsive to communication from booking through to checkout. Lisa provided detailed check in information and went to the effort of offering many recommendations of local attractions for us to visit during our stay. The property itself was spotless on arrival. There were so many charming touches and every room was beautifully decorated and well equipped. One of our party was involved in an accident (not at the cottage) the day before we were due to check out. Lisa was understanding and as accommodating as she could be with helping us get ourselves sorted- we really appreciated this!
Summary: We could not fault our host or the cottage and its facilities- simply fabulous!
