The nine meres of Ellesmere are close by and provide scenic walks, sailing, fishing and boat trips, an abundance of wildlife and great birdwatching opportunities. Further afield are the Welsh Mountains and coast, Lakes Bala and Vyrnwy, medieval Shrewsbury, the Roman walled city of Chester and the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge. The beautiful Lake Vyrnwy and Llanrheadr waterfall are also within an hours drive.
