Summary: The property itself is in a wonderful, peaceful location. The junior suite was huge and appropriately appointed with period furniture. However, a plumbing issue resulted in our shower/bath not emptying. This wasn’t a major issue as we were only staying overnight but temperatures were close to 40C. The night manager appeared more concerned about the impact on the next booking rather than our comfort & we had no alternative but to leave in the morning without showering….

Summary: A wonderful stay in the historical center of Matera. If history and nostalgia and being in the center of the historical town is where you want to be then this is the place.

Summary: All it was an excellent location. You are right in the heart of the Old Town. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly If I had a negative it would be the lack of in room copy period and do not follow Google map directions as it will lead you in the wrong direction

Yvonne May 21, 2026 11:02:18 PM
Summary: Beautiful hotel and view but the bar and restaurant were closed until June which I might have chosen this hotel if I had that information. Would still recommend.
Robert May 14, 2026 10:40:32 PM
Summary: Large older palace converted to a hotel. Owner still lives upstairs. Stunning views from this location, the highest in Matera next to the Duomo.
Michael Apr 30, 2026 11:16:07 PM
Summary: This property is an old palace in the middle of the ancient historic town. If you are driving to it, you will be using narrow streets shared by diners, people walking, and possibly other cars. Once you reach the piazza Duomo it gets tricky and you will need some help. Make sure they know you are coming.
