Positive: We loved this property. It was centrally located in downtown Skagway and close to everything. The room was big, it was very clean, and very comfortable. The stay included a home cooked breakfast, which was cooked while we waited. The host was extremely nice and we enjoyed talking with her.

Negative: The only complaint I have is that there is zero signage for this hotel. Nothing on the building itself, and nothing to let you know where to check in. Turns out that check in is at a counter in a convenience store, but we didn’t know that, and we didn’t know where it was. We drove around the block a number of times and went into 3 other shops to ask where the hotel was. Once we found where to check in everything was great, but it was frustrating to have to search and not see any indication of where to go.

Positive: Breakfast was good. Location was good. Back room was quiet. Bed was very comfortable...much appreciated.

Negative: Had a difficult time figuring out there was no "lobby" since there was no external hotel sign and people in the shops etc. did not seem to know where the Pack Train Hotel was. Suggest putting more specific instructions when booking regarding how to check in. For a little while, I thought I had gotten scammed....

Summary: Stay was very pleasant with clean comfortable room and good host.

Positive: The Inn is centrally located in the center of town - far enough away from the marina to avoid the noise, but close to everything in town. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was sizable. There was a nice deck where guests could sit and observe the comings and goings from the local brewery. The kitchen facility had tables where families/groups could congregate to play board games, etc.

Negative: The Inn is not well marked (it's not marked AT ALL!) so we had difficulty locating it upon arrival and there was no one facilitating check-in (or check-out, for that matter). The check-in time posted on Booking.com was until 7pm; the property manager called at 4:15pm, and expressed his displeasure that we weren't checking in until after 6pm (we were traveling on tow separate flights to arrive at the final destination). There is no elevator - only stairs - and no lower level to the Inn. Because one of the windows in our room did not open, the room got very stuffy (there is no air conditioning or fans available). There is only the half mirror in the bathroom, no other (full length) mirror in the room. The lightbulb in the nightstand lamp was incredibly dim - did not provide enough light to read in bed. Breakfast time was stated as "7am - 8am"; however, when we arrived at the kitchen at 7:05am, the host was just starting to prepare breakfast (we had an engagement at 7:30am, so we couldn't stay and wait for something to be prepared). Also, there was no hot water for tea, packaged oatmeal, etc. There were no instructions on how to check-out...

Summary: Comfortable room in the middle of town; be aware it's upstairs with no elevator. Call before arrival

Positive: It was a very spacious room and very clean. A comfortable bed. There was internet TV with hundreds of viewing choices. The location was very convenient. An excellent breakfast.

Negative: Difficult to find. No signage. Check in was through a store on the ground floor and we had to ask several people where it was.

Summary: Overnight in Skagway and enjoy the city without cruise ship people.
