Big Bay Getaway offers you an experience that none of our other homes can. The meandering tree lined driveway leads you to a beautiful custom built 3,500 square foot home with magnificent views of the lake and large SANDY BEACH, right out the back door! Enjoy the views from all the main areas of this open concept home. Perfect for a family getaway or couple's retreat! Huge deck with new lounge and dining seating. End the day around the fire pit...smores and more!
Lake Petenwell is the 2nd largest inland lake in Wisconsin with 23,000 acres, featuring excellent boating, swimming and fishing. Explore and take in nature at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge with visitor center, walking paths, lookout towers and bicycling this 44,000 acre park. Only 10 minutes to Nekoosa HoChunk casino, 15 minutes to the WI Rapids, and 45 minutes to the Wisconsin Dells attractions for a full day of activities for the kids. Or take a day trip to Spring Green, Frank Lloyd Wright center, and the House on the Rock. Relaxation or water-front activities ... the choice is yours!
Feel free to enjoy the clean, sandy beach directly in front of the home—perfect for launching your kayak, sunbathing, and swimming. You’ll also have access to the community pier just a short walk from the backyard, great for fishing or jumping in for a swim. You may tie off your boat on the edge during the day, but long-term or overnight docking is not allowed.
If you are bringing your own watercraft or renting locally, please plan accordingly, as overnight docking is not permitted anywhere on Lake Petenwell. You will need to trailer your watercraft each evening. The property has plenty of space for trailers, and the nearest boat launch is just minutes away.
Please also note that the shoreline is owned by the local power company, and we must follow their regulations. This includes removing all items such as toys, chairs, and kayaks from the beach or shoreline each night and bringing them back up to the house.

Summary: House and property are absolutely beautiful! All the rooms are well appointed, spacious, and very clean. Plenty of parking for my son’s wakeboard boat and son in-laws fishing boat. The grandkids loved playing in the basement and on the sandy beach. The large deck and fire pit area provided great family time in the evenings with awesome views of the lake. Ability to bring my dog was so appreciated. Would definitely return to this home!! We loved it!!

Summary: This home is absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed the large lot and the privacy. There was plenty of room for our family of 8. The only disappointment was the water. It was full of green algae which looked like paint, so no swimming for us. I have read that this is normal for this time of year. Some dead fish, which made the flies very annoying, but it did not damper our fun! I would recommend this home. We had to call the agency twice and they were quick to respond.

Summary: This house is beautiful! Nestled in the woods for just the right amount of sun and shade overlooking the lake! It was so relaxing to hang out on the deck & beach or by the fire pit. We especially appreciated the gate on the deck to keep the littles and the dogs contained. Very spacious rooms for our group of 12.

Summary: Easy check in process, beautiful home on the lake. Boys enjoyed fishing on the dock, we took our boat out on the lake and swam in the lake. A great experience overall.

Summary: Spacious, immaculately clean house on the lake in a quiet, rural setting. Extremely relaxing experience with our immediate family and grandkids and family friends. The house is very well maintained and well appointed. The app description was accurate and, if anything, understated how wonderful this house is. It exceeded our expectations in most every way. We had a wonderful stay hanging out at the beach in front of the house and some others nearby, kayaking, swimming, biking, running, walking, cooking and grilling. We’d love to return next year.

Summary: Nice, modern clean house. As a neighbor I find it inappropriate that the owners advertise a private beach house. It’s a public beach behind the house- the shoreline plus 100 feet is owned by the WAPCO, the WI power company. My husband own a home AND lot on this beautiful lake and respect all who share the beach areas . a different descriptive of the property would be appropriate and truthful.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay so much, the house is incredible! The rooms are spacious, we loved the open kitchen and living combo plus the big basement. We were able to watch the Packers play on the big screen in the basement. The deck is so nice and peaceful to sit on and listen to the waves. The yard has plenty of space and the driveway was great for the kids to ride bike and scooter on. The house was clean, well stocked and everything we were looking for. The kids loved playing in the sand and walking along the trails. Only downside was the boat lift was for a pontoon and didn't work for our Lund but that was not a big deal since the launch was less than a mile away. We highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

Summary: A beautiful getaway cottage with a great view of Lake Pentenwell. One of the few all sandy beach front properties available. Wi-Fi could use improvement, it does not reach too well into the great room. Only Television is streaming, no cable or satellite dish. Overall a beautiful experience, plan to again.

Summary: The house was modern and clean. Very comfortable. The beach made swimming fun. If you bring a boat be sure to inquire about a lift since boat has to come out of water at night. Great place for whole family
