Positive: A truly authentic stay in the heart of Kea This is much more than just accommodation — it feels like stepping into the history and home of a local family for a few days. The house is a beautiful, spacious stone farmhouse surrounded by nature, away from any settlement, with wonderful views over the traditional dry-stone walls, olive trees and oak trees of western Kea. The garden is lovely, with a pomegranate tree, caper bushes and beautiful warm lighting that creates a magical atmosphere under the stars. The house is very well equipped for a longer stay, including a full kitchen, large refrigerator and everything needed for cooking and serving meals. Traditional agricultural objects and details from the home’s past add a genuine sense of character. The bed is large and comfortable, and although there is no air conditioning, the thick stone walls keep the house pleasantly cool. With the fan, mosquito screens and natural breeze, we slept very comfortably. A special mention must go to Mr. Antonis, who welcomed us personally, showed us around and was always available with recommendations and advice. The local treats from Rodi Keas were a lovely touch and made a great breakfast. The access is easy as long as you follow Antonis’ directions — Google Maps may try to take you along unsuitable paths. The final 900 metres are on a very manageable dirt road, and we reached the house easily on a 170cc scooter, even with two people and luggage. For us, one of the highlights was simply being surrounded by nature: the sounds of goats and free-roaming donkeys, the countryside, the silence and the incredible night sky. If you appreciate authentic rural surroundings and want to experience a quieter, more traditional side of Kea, this place is genuinely special. We were very happy with our stay and would gladly return.
Negative: There is literally nothing to be mentioned. For some people, the lack of aircon would be worrying but I am pretty sure you will not need it. Also, the 900m dirt road is not something to worry about either since there are no big rocks or holes.
Summary: A truly authentic and peaceful stay in a beautiful traditional stone house, surrounded by nature, with a warm and welcom
