Positive: A lovely family home in a more tranquil part of Kathmandu, with a view of the mountains. What I loved most about my stay here was that I was welcomed into the family like a daughter. Bimala makes the most amazing food, Ganesh makes sure you’ll have the best time by taking you around and showing you the most beautiful places of Nepal. I had a home far away from home here and was moved by the love and care I received from people I just met.
Summary: It was my highlight of Nepal and I will always have a home here.

Positive: This homestay is a truly hidden gem. It’s the perfect place if you want to experience everyday life within a Nepali family, enjoy some peace and quiet, and feel a real sense of home away from home.❤️ The room is wonderful—spacious, almost completely surrounded by windows, offering the best views over Kathmandu with sunlight streaming in all day long. You can do your laundry here, watch the sunset from the rooftop terrace, and simply relax. The family is incredibly warm and welcoming. Their 1.5-year-old daughter loves to play and brings so much joy into the house. Both parents speak excellent English, which makes it easy to have deep and interesting conversations. They are involved in meaningful charity work and also have a tourism background, so they can offer lots of helpful tips. The grandfather, in particular, is very knowledgeable and experienced if you are interested in any treks. The grandmother cooks unbelievably delicious meals—everything is vegetarian and organic, and you can truly taste the quality and love that goes into each dish. One of our highlights was joining the grandparents for 5 a.m. Zumba in the park, which was such a fun and unique experience. This is a place where you immediately feel comfortable, surrounded by genuine, kind-hearted people. We are deeply grateful for our stay here and can only recommend it wholeheartedly.❤️
Summary: This homestay is a warm and welcoming hidden gem where you can experience authentic Nepali family life

Positive: A very special and unique homestay where you truly stay in the home of a warm, welcoming Nepalese family. You share breakfast, lunch, and dinner with them at one table, and because they are so open and talkative, you will learn a lot about Nepal and its culture. The freshly cooked food is amazing—organic and fully vegetarian if you prefer. The room offers a stunning view of the mountain range and Kathmandu, yet the tourist center with all major attractions is only about a 20-minute walk away. The Monkey Temple is also just a 20-minute walk. The neighborhood is calm, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing. The family is very active, and you’re welcome to join in their daily routines—for example, free morning dancing before sunrise in a nearby park. They also run a charity organization in which you can participate if there are ongoing events. The grandfather, a former head of Nepal’s Tourism Department, can offer excellent tips and recommendations for your travels and hikes. All in all, this place is perfect if you’re looking for more than just a standard hotel room—here, you can truly live in and experience the real Nepal.
Negative: This is not a fancy hotel. It’s a real Nepali home—basic, but lovely and fully functional.
Summary: Amazing & authentic HOME stay

Positive: A real Nepali family home, the food was amazing, lovely fruits for breakfast. The whole family is so welcoming and treat you as part of their own. Its a little out of the city centre so it’s quiet which we enjoyed but its still walking distance to the city. The family will help you with whatever you need, things to do, places to eat, trekking ect. The room has a lovely mountain view. We were very lucky to stay here and be welcomed so kindly

Positive: Very nice homestay in a beautiful, quiet, non-touristic part of Kathmandu. I had a very nice room with a mountainview, very comfortable and clean too. Ganesh' and his family are one of the most compassionate people i ever met, any kind of problem you might face, they are more than willing to help, making you feel right at home. They are also very knowledgeable with any touristic activity you might like to partake in, and will also find the cheapest price too. Food is tremendously tasteful, freshly made always, and all organic. "You want more?" is the question you'll hear the most :) So if you want a good start to Nepal, this is where you go

Positive: The home stay experience was incredible with very unique and in-depth experiences. Unlike hostel and hotels, I experienced very authentic lifestyle in Nepal. The hosting family was extremely friendly to treat me with delicious dal bhat, introducing me to their friends and even inviting me to join their celebrating event. I have the chance to get into a very local life by meeting these people. They also shared a lot of the Nepali cultures and stories which was very amazing. For the environment, the home stay is super clean. Room is big, comfortable. Food is very good. The best thing is, the family has a very kind heart that they are doing charity work, running a learning center in a rural village in full time. The home stay income is all going to the project directly. So staying in the home stay itself is already supporting the poor children. I like the concept very much and would highly recommend to stay here.
Negative: The only weakness of the homestay is that the location is little far from thamel, with 30 minutes walk. But the host is also friendly to help for the ride. Also, since it is a family base homestay not a hotel, it could hardly afford hotel standard services. The family is too good to try their best to support the best they can, still, if you would like to stay here, some expectations have to be adjusted. Eg. Try to accept simple dish instead of a feast.
Summary: Authentic local experience in charity base homestay

Positive: This home stay is run by a fantastic family that cares about ensuring their guests have the best possible experience in Nepal. They are extremely helpful with and knowledgeable about tourism opportunities. They can help with transportation, planning trips, local sites, expeditions outside of Kathmandu, shopping in places that have a fair price etc… This was my third time staying at Nagarjun Home Stay and I plan on returning as soon as I can.
Negative: I love the property. However people should keep in mind this is a family home, not a 5 star resort property.
Summary: My family and I took an amazing trip to Lo Manthang thanks to the family at Nagarjun Home Stay.
