Positive: The owner prepares breakfast everyday for us, this was a unique gastro experience. All products super fresh and local recipes. Highly recommended.

Positive: We had a fantastic stay at Mpelleiko. Our host Nena was the best we have ever had, and we are very well travelled. We stayed at the property the beginning of October and the weather was perfect for hiking but the nights cool enough for a jacket. Nena met us in town so we could follow her to her property and show us where to park. Our room had everything we could possibly want even a torch for walking down to the town to eat at night. It is a wonderful property built in the 1600's and the garden outside is beautiful. I had a head cold when we arrived so Nena made me a drink from her grandmother's recipe to help the symptoms. Breakfast was amazing it was was home made from local produce and from her own garden. Bread was stone milled and home made it really was superb, the views from the breakfast room were stunning We wanted to do a days hike from Stemnitsa to Dimitsana so Nena sat down with us and explained the route, advised us which way to go and said she would call a taxi for us when we got to Dimitsana and also gave us a map to use. Towards the end of the walk the signs disappeared so we called Nena and she talked us through till we got back on the trail. Walking down into the town for dinner in the evening meant navigating quite a few stairs, it took less than 10 mins and we were happy to do that, but you could always drive instead and it would only take a few minutes. Stemnitsa has limited restaurant options, we ate at the pub both evenings, the meals were tasty and enormous. Dimitsana has more eating options but we were pleased we stayed in Stemnitsa as it is small, quaint and beautiful, we really loved our stay at Mpelleiko with our wonderful host

Positive: Nena was an exceptional host, she provided terrific advice for local walks and restaurants. Breakfast was fantastic and varied each day of our stay. The rooms were very quaint and comfortable.

Positive: Breakfast was perfect. With the knowledge that it was prepared particularly for us, using the freshest and healthiest ingredients. And the pleasant, and real conversation with our host left a homey feeling you don’t see at a hotel.

Negative: Well, there were a lot, I mean a Lot of steps. But if that was an issue, we wouldn’t have gone.

Positive: Nena, the owner of the house, is lovely. She helped us make the most of our stay, with her personal knowledge of the Menalon Trail walk, local restaurants, and information about the area. She prepared us gorgeous breakfasts, with produce from her garden and local artisans. She looked after us beautifully and made us feel special. The Melanon mountains are stunning, with its roads that wind through old hillside villages where all the houses are made of beautiful honey colored stones with terracotta roofs. Nenas house is one of these, and from there, the view across the valley to the rest of the village is lovely. The cooler mountain air, the peace and beauty was a delight after busy, noisy Athens

Negative: Driving through the narrow, winding mountain roads and trying to find Nenas house at night was not a wise idea. We tried to let Nena know our arrival time, but the trip took longer than we anticipated Best to do the trip in daylight.
