This lake house is great for all seasons. Whether you are looking for vibrant summer lake fun, the fall leaves, holiday snow, or spring mountain mornings, this is the place to relax! Lake Hiwassee has beautiful emerald green waters that are so rejuvenating; and with the undeveloped mountain back drops of the Nantahala National Forest, there just isn't anything better. Sit on the porch or dock and watch the world come alive. If you are looking to unplug and enjoy amazing views, swim, go boating, fishing, kayaking, spend time with family and friends on one of the decks, or just enjoy a nighttime fire while you relax, this is your place.
This newly renovated house is right on the lake in a cove. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and sleeps six. There is an unfinished basement that is set up for table tennis and has a seating area. On the main level there is a kitchen stocked with dishes and cooking items, a seating area with a wood-burning fireplace, and a TV that can be used to watch movies on either the DVD player or your favorite apps (Netflix, etc . . .). This house also has a landline phone and Wifi if needed, but it is in the mountains so the idea is to unplug! There are two outdoor decks. The upper deck has a charcoal grill, deck chairs, and a table with an umbrella (updated pictures coming!). The lower deck has stairs to the lake and and entry to the basement where you will have access to two kayaks and some rafts. There is also a screened in porch at the main entrance. Down by the water there is a deck for relaxing and stairs to take you down to the floating dock in the cove.
If you want to get out and explore, there is plenty to do within easy driving distance. You can white water raft or kayak on the Nantahala or Ocoee rivers, and there are several zip lines in the area. There are fun towns with great places to walk, shop, and eat too. You'll have easy access to nearby Murphy, NC, Blue Ridge, GA, Hiawassee, GA, and Helen, GA. If you have time, take the beautiful drive along the Ocoee river to Chattanooga, TN to see underground Ruby Falls waterfall. It's amazing!
The house is located in the Bear Paw community. Bear Paw is a private community with a gate manned 24 hours a day and provides all of the nature you could ask for. You'll find friendly neighbors, with plenty of land between homes. In addition to the lake and marina with boats for rent, there is a pool for the family, playground for the kids, fishing pond for all ages, and even a tennis court! So much to see and do!

Summary: We absolutely loved staying at this lake home. It may be one of the cleanest most stocked homes we have stayed at. The highlights were a stocked kitchen with room for a large family to gather, eat and play games, the large deck overlooking the lake and of course the dock with a lot of flotation devices and paddle boat. It’s a great place to unplug, relax and just have some good ol’ fashioned family fun.

Summary: We had a fantastic stay! We enjoyed the house, the deck facing the lake, and the floating dock. We brought our own tandem kayaks and standup paddle boards and enjoyed Hiwassee Lake. Swam and floated from the dock. Got lots of exercise going up and down the stairs and path to the dock. Definitely would consider staying here again.

Summary: bruce is the best host i’ve ever had. hands down. he’s one you want by your side no matter what you’re doing. the only thing i regret is not going on one of his cocktail sunset cruises. his boat passed our dock a few times and i regretted it tremendously. the property is stunning. don’t let the driveway intimidate you, just ease everything in. trips like mine, and perhaps the one you are planning ….. they are meant for not overthinking anything and relaxing. this sweet spot of a cabin on the lake, is made for take away days. time to focus more on the things you’re missing and refill your cup. literally. don’t miss out of this spot, or any spot that bruce is hosting. we are forever grateful for the time there in bear paw and hope to be back on lonesome pine real real soon.
