Positive: Moon Water Lodge is quite odd to my English eye, in that it is a motel on the Trans-Canada in the middle of nowhere. It's very quirky, and the stairs up and down to the apartments were unexpected, but the layout is clever, and the rooms are huge. The kitchen was really well equipped, the bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom was roomy with a decent shower. The complimentary dressing gowns were a really nice touch too. The best thing is the balcony and view. You can just see the Malahat Skywalk, and the views down to the Saanich Inlet are spectacular. It's a great place for stargazing and watching the sun come up. It's a truly amazing location and definitely worth a stay.

Negative: Our filter coffee maker was blocked and didn't work. The diner next door gets terrible reviews, but luckily we had spotted this and decided to self cater for dinner the night we stayed.

Negative: Minor maintenance repairs would make a big difference but nothing major. Just like, drains plugs that worked or light switches without broken plastic and stuff.

Positive: The view speaks for itself! The bathtub overlooking the water was beautiful. The main bed was comfortable.

Negative: This place could be really great with some updates, but it needs some work. The downstairs shower never fully shuts off (constantly dripping), there were no filters for the coffee maker and the components didn't work, the blinds for the upper window were broken and closed, obstructing the view from the loft. We originally booked a room with a kitchen, but were told the day prior that we couldn't have that room and instead placed us in a different suite to accommodate, however the "roaming kitchen" that was provided didn't work and had mis-matched components so we weren't able to cook as planned. The "pet area" is right next to the highway, even though there's a huge yard space in the back, there is no way to access it. I think it's a missed opportunity because it's a beautiful space but could be managed better.

Summary: Beautiful view but needs some work.
