Positive: Our group of +20 foreign Buddhist pilgrims really enjoyed staying at the Mohit Paying Guest House. Mr. Mohit Gupta and his family and staff were very friendly and helpful towards us. We had a very long journey in India and Nepal, and this was our last stop before going home. We stayed two nights and it exceeded our expectations! The ambience and energy of Mohit's place is very relaxing, enjoyable and spacious. And it is a very family-friendly guest house, as we have children who accompanied us on our journey, and we only want to stay at family-friendly locations. Our group also enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd floor balconies that we could hang out and enjoy the morning or evening view. The rooms were very relaxing, clean and good to sleep in. The location is also very convenient because it's a 7 minute walk to the Sarnath Buddhist Temple and a 19 minute walk to the Dhamekh Stupa. Mohit's customer service is great and I would love to go back to his place! Thank you Mohit for your hospitality and we hope to stay at your place again in the future!

Positive: I'm Australian and visited during the low season and had the most incredible stay — it honestly felt like this family had a magic wand hidden somewhere. Every little problem I brought with me, they solved with such kindness and ease. From helping me get tailored clothes made, to fixing the screen on my phone, to preparing the most delicious meals, to even arranging a local traveler to accompany me to the ghats — they thought of everything. Mohit’s wife cooks the most amazing food, with a huge variety of delicious home-style Indian dishes. I probably ate 70% of my meals here, and every bite was a treat! As a solo woman traveler, I felt completely safe and cared for. When I ran into trouble with a bad Uber driver, they stepped in right away and sorted it out without hesitation. Whatever was on my to-do list, they somehow made it happen. Their home is full of warmth, laughter, and the sweetest little girls you’ll instantly fall in love with. Mohit’s mother also carries such wisdom and clarity in her words that, even when she spoke in Hindi, I found myself understanding. They’re wonderfully creative too — they hand painted uplifting murals to brighten the walls, from a cute panda to a serene Buddha, and they’ve even made cozy seats out of recycled tyre wheels. In the evenings, the open terrace is the perfect place to sit, while doves that have been nesting there for over five years coo gently in the background. The family also runs a small shop, so snacks and drinks are always within easy reach. Compared to the bustle of the city, this place is peaceful and quiet, yet still just a short walk from the Buddhist temples in Sarnath. The rooms are comfortable, with options to suit everyone — from dorms to single rooms and larger family spaces. Truly, this is the BEST place I have ever stayed. If you’re looking for safety, comfort, care, and unforgettable hospitality, look no further — you’ll find it here.

Positive: The location was good and the host was very good and friendly.

Negative: The fan in the room was small and thus it was quite hot. The cooler was very noisy and since no window was causing circulation of stale air. Something to consider to make the room Ac and charge accordingly. Toilet can be clean daily with some soap facility.

Positive: Mohit is a nice man. The establishment was almost empty so it was very quiet. Good price for a private room. Homemade breakfast was provided. Private washroom. The fan speed was adjustable. Mohit let me checkout later than schedule.

Negative: Location could be better. Bed and common space could be more comfortable.

Positive: The location is superb for any meditators keen on being walking distance to Sarnath park and the Buddhist temple. Mohit was very accommodating and did his best to provide amenities to help cool the fan dorm room down. For the value especially I was very pleased to have stayed here and would be happy to again :)

Negative: There were quite a few mosquitos that I hoped to be able to deal with a mosquito net (I have my own) but this does not work with the bottom bunks. Fortunately the room cooler Mohit provided was good enough at keeping them away.

Positive: Mohit is a lovely host nothing was too much trouble. His staff were polite and kind. The room was big and clean and the food lovely. Mohit even invited us to his daughter's birthday party and provided food.

Negative: The walk is 8 mins to town, not an issue for us but some might not want to walk that far.
