4 Bedroom Cabin in Hayward

Welcome to the Log Cabin Lake House! This was a family home for many years, and we are excited to share all the home and the area has to offer. This modern yet traditional log home has all you need to feel just right in the Northwoods. It is located on Nelson Lake, about five miles from downtown Hayward, and well situated for you to enjoy all the area has to offer. The location is ideal, being close to shopping, as well as close to hiking, skiing and biking trails, as well as snowmobiling and ATV trails.
Layout:
This 3 level home has all you need for a comfortable get away. Each floor has a view of the lake. The spacious main floor has two bedrooms, one full bath, and an open concept kitchen, dining room, living room. There is also a laundry room on this floor. Off the main floor is a screen porch, and access to a large deck. The loft has the master suite and a full bathroom. Outside the master suite is an open office area, play/craft area, and a futon.
The lower level has a bedroom, full bathroom and family room.
The outside area provides lake access with a small beach area. There is a large 50 foot dock that is shared with another party. You have use of the dock with room for two boats. Two single kayaks and one double kayak is available for your use. You can fish off the dock or fish the 2500 acres of Nelson Lake. There is a large fire pit with fire wood available for your use that is near the lakeshore and is a great gathering spot for day time or evening get togethers. It is a wonderful spot for star gazing or making s'mores.
We have a small sandy beach area next to our dock on our property. This is great for younger kids. There is a gradual slope to about 5-6 feet of water. Another option for swimming is to go out to a public beach area about 1/2 mile from our dock. This beach has a large sandy area with a gradual slope. It is ideal for family swimming. You can easily park your boat or pontoon on the sandy beach.
The property shares a driveway and parking area with another party. The parking area provides space for you for at least three vehicles and a trailer, with additional space available on an adjacent lot.
The property managers are next door and are normally available for any questions or concerns.
NOTE: We only rent full weeks, Friday to Friday during June, July and August. Check in is Friday afternoon, check out is Friday morning.

Summary: Absolutely beautiful log cabin. The layout offered plenty of space for us to be together as a group of 8 while cooking and eating as well as playing cards. It also has great space for spreading out if you need a little alone time. Hayward is a fun town and is an easy short drive from the cabin. Dave was a great host and took care of any issues we had. Definitely recommend this gem!!!

Summary: We have been fortunate to travel to many locations and stay in some lovely properties, but only rarely have we had such a fabulous stay! This log home is exceptionally clean and well-cared for. The layout and design is perfect for large groups, though we loved our stay as a couple. The swimming--even in September--was wonderful. Dave is the consummate host. We will return for a longer stay!

Summary: The Nelson Lake house is a great getaway. The house is perfect for a multi generational family. There are 3 distinct areas for sleeping and just taking a break. Dave and Cathy are fantastic hosts, they have thought through what will make their house comfortable. You will have a great time!

Summary: This was our first time staying at this house. Absolutely everything was PERFECT! We visit Hayward every summer bringing with us our boat and atv. This house is conveniently located near the trails for atving. The pier at the house is able to handle a larger boat. There are bumpers to protect the side of your boat as well as ample tie downs for your lines. The house is a beautiful log home. Everything you need is supplied. The house was extremely clean. The grounds are perfectly manicured. There is a sandy area for swimming which works well for the little ones. Then there are the hosts that go above and beyond to make sure your trip is running smoothly. What a pleasure it was getting to know them. We look forward to staying again as this was truly a Northwoods getaway.

Summary: Dave has been a great host to us. He was immensely helpful and have followed through all the requests we had. He was kind enough to bring chairs down by the fire to accommodate all our family members even when he had packed away all the chairs for the season. He was also readily available via text and answering any questions we had. He has been very hands on and it was very convenient as he was just a few steps away from our lodge. Only feedback I have is that we had a dishwasher that didn't have water running(also because they had some work done to make the lodge look nicer, it wasn't the host's fault) and a sponge to clean the dishes right away. But Dave was very communicative and acknowledged the issues and gave us solutions right away. The hosts suggested us about the nearby restaurants and shops which was conveniently about 10 min drive away. It has a wide array of selections in terms of restaurant as well as many candy and ice cream spots. Google does sometimes give you the wrong information as most ice cream spots were closed when we went there, it was possibly a seasonal thing. All in all, it was a great stay and my family had a wonderful time out there. Please don't forget to get outside late in the night and take in the beautiful stars that light up the sky, truly a beautiful sight!

Summary: From the beginning the communication was excellent. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. We have stayed at many different homes through VRBO, and this by far was the cleanest, best stocked home we have ever stayed at. We will definitely stay again. The lake view and the property are beautiful!!!
