Positive: The room and bed were comfy Japanese style - sliding panels in a beautiful space and a futon on the floor. The showers and toilets were in portacabins outside, but fine. There are laundry facilities. It was nice and quiet overnight. The company grows and sells salted plums. They gave me a sample, which was very tasty - better than those I've had from the supermarkets!

Negative: The kitchen had all you needed, but was not very clean. It was shared with the company on-site staff who had a tendency to leave the door open a little, letting in bugs in the evening. The staff were nice to chat to a bit though.

Positive: It's really good value for money. It feels like you're literally just staying in someone's house. The men sleep downstairs and the women upstairs, and there's one extra private room for anyone travelling in pairs. The futons are thicker than usual so they're comfortable. The owner leaves an umeboshi from his plum grove for you, and it's the most delicious one I've ever had!

Negative: Just a heads up the toilet is located outside of the house, portaloo-ish style but nicer don't worry. And if you don't like that, if you walk a tiny bit further there are proper clean indoor toilets. There is only one shower tho, next to the toilet cubicle outside and it's shared not just with the other guests but with the factory workers living next door.

Positive: Was fun to self-check-in. The futon bed were really nice and clean and comfortable.

Negative: The toilette and the kitchen shared with the factory’s employees. we don’t dare to use shower since it’s quite a « simple » one like something you will see from a street construction or on the moutains. But the factory start at 9, be ready to wake up from some manufacturing sound. If you are light and sound-sensitive, probably not the best choice here.

Positive: The guesthouses is located in a quiet area of Minabe amidst plum orchards. It is a renovated traditional house of a plum farmer, smells wonderfully of wood and is very peaceful. I had the best stay imaginable here, thanks to the friendly owner, the incredible house and the kind locals living in Minabe.
