Positive: - Very friendly, smiling and helpful female staff members (I can speak Thai which is close to Lao. Not sure how fluent they are in English though.) - Nice view of the mountains of Thakhek or Mekong river, depending on which side your room will be. - Delicious local night market is very close (1~2 minutes walk) - Though not the cleanest hotel, it is still the most affordable hotel in Thakhek.

Negative: - Not a very clean room. Though not as bad as some other comments mentioned, there were still some smaller details which needed to be fixed: A) A garbage from the previous guest (the rest of the food in a torn plastic bag with leaking sauce) was forgotten on the corner. B) Some uncleaned gecko poos on that corner as well. C) The bedsheet seems to have been washed, but you could see some yellow and red dirt on it. D) One towel was also not very clean. E) The floor in the bathroom was not very clean. F) The toilet continued making a noise after flushing the water. F) The pipeline of the toilet seemed to be a bit stuck, a previous customer must have thrown the toilet paper inside. - Though still one of the most affordable, Mekong Hotel is too expensive for its rather shabby quality. Surrounded between the Mekong river and the mountains, Thakhek is a small city with way too many Western tourists and backpackers. The reason why there are some expensive boutique hotels but not many affordable and clean hotels.

Positive: The place was nice and clean. Comfy but there are dogs barking so not suited for lightsleepers orherwise good!

Positive: The hotel was ok, comfortable enough, didn't expect too much, did the job, only stayed one night. the best thing about the hotel is it is located right on the mekong river and also not far from restaurants and bars. my friends and I bought a few beer laos and just sat on the banks of the mekong river opposite the hotel and watched the world go by.

Negative: The check was a nitemare, it took way to long, I think the girl was new as she didn't have a clue and it just took to lond

Negative: The room at first night they gave us wrong room and the manager was not interested in compensating anything for money that we paid for the first room had loose tiles that could have cut our feet television didn't work fridge as well
