Negative: The staff were very friendly and hardworking, and we appreciated being given a modern room with free full board. However, the experience didn’t match what I expected from the photos and reviews. The building is quite old, with long corridors and bright fluorescent lighting that give it a bit of a “Soviet hospital” feel rather than a modern resort. Most guests were elderly people. The food was typical all-inclusive buffet style — the pasta was tasty, though the restaurant ambiance could be improved, with some areas smelling unpleasant. While I can see the hotel is doing their best, the hotel’s online photos and especially its very high rating felt misleading. After reading so many overly positive 10/10 reviews, I honestly wonder if some might be fake. It’s not a terrible place, but definitely not what the pictures and reviews suggest.

Positive: All of the staff at the hotel were fantastic - from the reception team, bar staff, lifeguards, beach staff and lastly the restaurant team. The room (suite) had 2 bedrooms, was exceptionally large and thoroughly clean. Food was ok. It’s all buffet style in the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So can be a little repetitive, albeit was ok quality.

Negative: A few things to mention …. 1. The hotel itself is the poorer cousin to the Mangia down the road - which has clearly had all the investment recently. The hotel looks like a 1960s hospital / institution, more like something out of ‘stranger things’. Its corridors and campus are huge and haven’t been upgraded like the rooms/bathrooms. 2. Swimming Pool. It shuts for lunch (12:30-15:30) which was not on booking.com when we booked but were told on arrival. Be warned. This leads to (3) 3. Unless you are all inclusive you have to pay for lunch and drinks. Not unexpected, but there are no other options (unless you have a car and leave). Prices for lunch were €30 a head ! And wine if brought separately by the bottle were a min of €30. It all felt like you were being forced to stay and buy unless you left, and at higher prices. We are in Sciacca for lunch by the sea as a family of 4 for under €100 with starters, mains, ice creams, drinks and wine !

Summary: Not what was sold via booking.com.

Positive: This stay was part of a longer car tour of Sicily and was a last minute booking and although we stayed at higher starred and rates hotels, this hotel gave the warmest and kindest welcome and hospitality. Couldn’t have been nicer. Huge room, beautifully cleaned and lots of thoughtful little extras.

Summary: Brilliant. Uneciecetd gem.
