Positive: One of the best places we have stayed in Switzerland. The apartment was spotlessly clean, modern, spacious and very well equipped. Everything has been thought of and we immediately felt at home. The absolute highlight is the breathtaking mountain view – even more beautiful than in the pictures. The location is wonderfully peaceful and perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the Zermatt and Mattertal region. The hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. Check-in was simple and everything was perfectly organised. We would definitely stay at Mattertal Lodge again and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place in the Swiss Alps. 10/10!

Positive: What I loved most about this place was the amazing mountain location. The view from every window in the apartment was stunning. The apartment was beautifully and thoughtfully designed. The balcony made us feel like we were sitting in a cozy café in the forest. The village itself was so peaceful and quiet, and the whole atmosphere was incredibly relaxing.
Negative: I liked everything. But, It’s important to know in advance that you can’t drive into the village. You have to park your car in the parking lot at the entrance to the village. You can drive your luggage to the apartment first, and then park outside the village. The other thing is the 6am wake-up call from the bell tower. It’s charming, but if you want to sleep in you’ll need good earplugs.

Positive: Apartment had many extras. We were able to cook a few meals, which saved time. Cable cars took us to great hikes up, or transportation down. It was a very interesting area. Embd is most vertical town in Switzerland. Beautiful place!
Negative: You park your car at entrance to the town and roll your suitcase to apartment, but not a big deal for me. Quiet place!

Positive: The views were simply breathtaking. The accommodation itself was lovely, well designed and comfortable. There’s a small essentials shop at the end of the road which is useful and a cable car that takes you directly to the train station in the village below.
Negative: The drive up is finnicky but more than doable. I’m a confident UK driver and this was my first time driving abroad and the roads are very bendy on the approach but nothing too daunting if you’re sensible. The only other thing I would suggest is doubling up on pillows. The ones provided were very very thin and needed folding in half to get any comfort from them.
