Positive: Stunning building with amazing views. Great food, drinks and service in the bar. The gym and spa are great too.

Negative: Rooms are too hot with old sash windows that are hard to open or keep open to cool it down. The quality of the breakfast and service at breakfast time is not as good as it was during previous stays.

Positive: The staff were lovely and accommodating, and we made use of pretty much every included amenity offered. The included breakfast was wonderful, the grounds and interiors were breathtaking, and the sea offered a wonderful cold plunge for those brave enough :-) We also thoroughly enjoyed the hydro-suite in the spa. A wonderful experience all around.

Negative: The only thing I would have changed is the room got very warm, as the window only opened a crack. They provided a fan, which we used and appreciated, but it was still pretty stuffy. It was plenty cool outside, but would have been brutal in warmer months.

Positive: It is a large old hotel which has been recently renovated to a high standard and is very popular with golfers. We chose a room with a sea view which provided a beautiful vista across the golf course and on to the Forth. The same view is also available in the lounge which is an ideal spot to relax with a drink. Breakfast was also excellent with a wide range of cooked to order options as well as a fine selection from the buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach is only a few minutes walk away, the town centre is a very pleasant 20 minutes walk while the railway station is even closer. Buses to and from Edinburgh are about 8 minutes away by foot.
