Positive: What a wonderful surprise. The photos don’t come close to showing how beautiful this place really is. You have to be here to feel how special it is to stay so close to nature. From the start, everything was perfectly organized. The villa contacted us in advance and arranged a smooth transfer from the harbor, just 15 minutes away. We were welcomed with fresh watermelon juice and warm smiles. The villa is new, beautifully designed, and every detail feels well thought out. The bamboo structure, the view, and the pool are stunning. The bathroom and toilet, accessed through a side door (inside), are spacious and clean. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made each morning, with tropical fruit, pancakes, and eggs. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning great, and the whole place peaceful and relaxing. Marilea Bamboo Villas is not just a place to stay but an experience.

Positive: Staying at Marilea Bamboo Concept felt like stepping into a carefully curated hideaway. The villa itself was very comfortable and the design has been thoughtfully put together, with stunning Indonesian artwork and décor that gives the whole space a truly local character. It felt really private and peaceful, away from the busier parts of the island. We always had the same view no matter where we were relaxing — pool, hammock, bed, even the bathroom — the view stretches out over the sea, nearby islands, and the volcano in the distance. I am an avid reader and I found my gaze constantly drawn from my book to the view. Absolutely beautiful and really the highlight of our stay. The staff and owner were attentive and went out of their way to make our stay easy. They organised our harbour pick-up and drop-off, arranged a bike so we could explore the island, and shared tips about the local area and events. We had come to Nusa Penida specifically to spend my birthday snorkelling with manta rays, and they put up some lovely decorations for us which made the day feel even more special! Thank you Komang and Tanguy 😊 The food at the villa was excellent; we have to mention the French crêpes — we ordered them every morning, and they were absolutely delicious! For a change of scene, the villa is also very close to Amok Restaurant & Bar, which became a favourite of ours. We spent a couple of nights there to unwind with a drink, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and watch the sunset over the water. Highly recommend. With thanks, Emilia and Louis.

Negative: Just a note: as you’d expect from being tucked away from the main tourist areas on the island, the local infrastructure — especially the roads — is less developed. Travelling by car is the most comfortable option which can easily be arranged with staff.

Positive: For our honeymoon, we booked this place—and I can only say wow! The owner is incredibly attentive and so friendly. The staff are also wonderfully kind. The cottage has a breathtaking view and is so peaceful and calm. Every little detail has been thought of. It truly feels like a warm welcome and like coming home. Being able to admire the view from your bed, both in the morning and at night, is like a fairytale. The breakfast is perfect and beautifully prepared. Thank you for making our honeymoon perfect with your amazing place! It’s an absolute recommendation, and we will definitely be back.

Positive: One of the rare cases where the actual accomodation is better than the photos. Beautiful location, landscape and services. There are no curtains and you wake up mesmerised by the view. The breakfast is included and the staff was kind and capable enough to make gluten free options for my girlfriend. It was very good as well. The staff is very helpful, we could arrange to leave the luggages well before our check-in and they moved them in the room as soon as it was ready.

Negative: Nothing really.
