Positive: Beautiful Aeolian house, all is kept to the essentials as it should. Beautiful veranda with and insuperable view, and we loved the outside kitchen and bathroom.

Positive: Perfectly simple and simply perfect! Ginostra is my idea of paradise, but as with any wonderful stay, the key is a welcoming and gracious host. Antonietta is the best of the best - and ask her husband Domenico to show you his amazing photography! Sitting under the stars on their Architectural Digest-worthy terrace, it seemed like my resting heart rate was about 30. The perfect place, the perfect hosts, and the perfect antidote for this crazy world. Can’t wait to return!

Positive: Our time in Ginostra was the most peaceful and relaxing of our entire time in Italy, made so by Antonietta and her beautiful home. So many spots within the property and without it, to sit watch the world go by. The room itself was beautiful and full of Antonietta's tender touch, and the access to a kitchen - with a couple of local markets only a few minutes away- was great. A very special space, and one to which we hope to return. Thank you so much!

Positive: We originally had booked a room in the more center of Ginostra but were proposed to take a full apartment a bit more out to accommodate other reservations and hosts hustle to go up and down in the town during the very hot month of August. This apartment was spacious and private. It is on the way to the more isolated but beautiful spot on the island. Overall very cute.

Negative: Despite the apartment was more private it was quite noisy sometimes (morning and evening) due to people staying in the surroundings. With regards to the host - the care of guests was very limited and it felt that once check in and payment were done there was no interest in how the stay was and not very much willing to help with fair requests. The first night the gas reserve finished while cooking and when asked for help we were told that it had to wait till the morning. After several messages and insisting someone finally came to recharge it and we were able to cook dinner. The following day we had a problem with ants which covered fresh bread left on the table just in less than one hour since we put it there. It’s absolutely normal on an island to have animals of any type and that’s not at all the problem but when asked for some products to keep ants away in the kitchen we were told the problem was well known and Normal and to go buy it at the shop. We ended up keeping any food in the fridge for the rest of the stay which was not a problem but the answer and the once again “your problem is not my problem” attitude was quite disturbing. In such a beautiful place you would expect much more care for guests and not the “pay me once and never see you again” very typical august (very high season) attitude you often see in Italy unfortunately. It would be special if the magical atmosphere that Ginostra has (way more during low season) would be reflected also in the way guests are welcomed.

Summary: Ginostra is a magical place, visit in low season though when all is slow and more authentic including care towards guest
