Positive: I booked this stay quite last minute as my last night of a 2 week road trip. I wanted a quiet location on route to St Malo. During my search this property caught my eye due to its appearance and it being a period Manor House. I was very surprised at what I thought was a low cost, therefore expected something a little less that what I experienced. I was utterly blown away by it from the moment I arrived, the husband of the man & wife owners met us on the entrance steps and immediately offered a truly hospitable welcome. We were led up the grand staircase to our room which was in fact more of a suite. Elegance but with some quirky fun decoration touches gave this mansion a relaxed feel. The bed was so comfortable, the separate bathroom fitted with a bath and shower was immaculately clean. We had stopped during our journey to take some food for our dinner as we were not expecting the property to provide anything more than breakfast, however the kind gentleman did ask if we required anything to eat. That in itself was very thoughtful and great hospitality. He said you are welcome to take your picnic anywhere in the gardens which surrounded the amazing house, he then came with a bottle of wine and offered us a very nice glass. (I am not saying this should be expected by all visitors). After a wonderful night’s sleep we went to the dining room for breakfast. Absolutely delicious, Croissants, bread, crepes, beautiful homemade jam’s & marmalade, honey from the neighbour, freshly pressed orange juice, great coffee. The husband & wife hosts just opened up their house earlier this year and I wish them every success for the future. I would like to add that I have spent 47 years working in the hospitality industry and have been a chef de cuisine at many top establishments, awarded for my talent and expertise. Therefore I have the knowledge to understand and recognise good hospitality and this property is a great example of that.
