Positive: As a solo female traveller, Maison Monty turned out to be the perfect place to experience the real charm of Pondicherry. The property itself is beautiful, with so many interesting old home aesthetic details. I loved simply spending time around the courtyard and the backyard. It feels authentic and thoughtfully preserved rather than overly commercial. The location was also excellent and made it easy to explore White Town, cafés and nearby local food spots on foot. As a solo female traveller, I also felt comfortable and safe throughout my stay. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and helpful. As someone who has stayed in quite a few hostels, I can genuinely say Maison Monty has the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. The bunk space is extremely roomy. You can tell the spaces were thoughtfully designed. There is a ledge inside the bunk to keep your phone, charger, book, or laptop, and the curtains give privacy without making the bed feel closed off or claustrophobic. Small details, but they made a huge difference. Would absolutely stay here again.
