Positive: We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay, sleeping in an excellent bed in a spacious room, and savoring the delicious breakfasts, picnics, and dinners. The surroundings are peaceful and charming, right at the edge of the French Ardennes and beneath the beautiful town of Sedan, home to the largest fortified castle in Europe. There is so much to see and explore in the area. Add to that the warm hospitality of Martine and Rudi—who speak French, perfect English, and some Dutch—and you quickly realize there’s no better place to be.

Positive: Owners were very nice. Their cuisine was excellent. I would certainly recommend taking dîner at the house. Breakfast was also excellent and very elaborate. Very nice and big garden.

Positive: Did not know what to expect but was very surprised, a nice quiet location with a large garden. In the lounge was a fridge with refreshments, tea and coffee that was a life saver. The room was spacious. The breakfast was well presented, with a good selection of food. Host was very accommodating.

Positive: The room was nicely furnished with a comfy bed. Space to leave your bikes if you bring them along, proximity to the canal is great if you want to do a biking tour of the area. The communal breakfast area was welcoming with many interesting books (neat regional histories in French and car relevant ones for enthusiasts) and games are available. Honesty bar is set up well with options of a non-alcoholic persuasion also. The large garden at the back was lovely. Breakfast was very worthwhile, with large assortment of options of both drink and foods (the yoghurt is a must), and ability to make your own fresh crepes (thanks Martine for my lesson), or an omelette/scrambled eggs to your own liking. Martine and Rudi are super friendly hosts (their puppy is also lovely :p), thanks very much for our stay!

Negative: There was no outer lock on our room door, could be locked from the inside only. Walls are quite thin, however we had good neighbours during our stay who were not so loud at night. Also, not relevant to us on this occasion as we had a car, but shops are quite a ways away if you don’t have a car.
