Positive: After having a little issue with the car, we arrived late at the hotel. The receptionist was very kind and patient, which made a great first impression. She even arranged for us to use the swimming pool and sauna until 9 PM, although they normally close at 8 PM. The hotel’s calm atmosphere and beautiful surroundings were truly relaxing. I originally planned to stay just one night to rest on my way from Belgium to the Swiss Alps, but after experiencing the location and the ambiance, I wished I had booked an extra night! Just a small note: if I had extended my stay through Booking.com, it would have cost me less!

Positive: Cleanliness. Only 3 minute walk to the Swiss 🇨🇭 border and from there it is a 5 to 6 minute walk to the bus station from where you can catch the bus to Basel. Alternatively you can also catch a bus from Basel Airport to Saint Louis station in France 🇫🇷 and from there a bus that stops only around 45 meters from the hotel (the bus stop name is Klepferhof). Breakfast croissants with chocolate were fantastic. Orange juice is freshly squeezed 👍👍👍 Excellent selection of natural teas in the lobby. Breakfast staff were very friendly but they need better training. After breakfast they forgot to put spoons at the teas section plus they were using disinfectant spray for the bases on which plates lay on tables near mine (these spray crystals inevitably fly around and fall on anything if even this is invisible to the eye). It is much better to collect these bases to the kitchen, spray them and then return them to the dining room (it is more efficient and will even save a little time).

Negative: The receptionists. There is no coordination between them and one didn't notify the other I was granted a late check out which caused an unnecessary mini drama. The breakfast did not have a single vegetable or herb of any kind and no spice or chilli (thankfully they got me black pepper from the kitchen after asking for it). At the restaurant during dinner some of the cutlery is laid on the wooden table while other cutlery is laid on the cloth (makes no sense at all and it does not promote health because of the chemical disinfectants used to clean the wooden surface). The balconies were getting renovated but that stopped so the balconies are basically an ugly and unfinished construction site. There is a slight lack of light in the room especially if you shut the curtains to avoid the eyesore that is the balconies. The shower is in the bathtub and it gets slippery. I think it is unsafe (kids and elderly must beware).
