Positive: We travel in Europe extensively and cannot think of anywhere over the years that reaches such heights of style and hospitality. Guillaume and Pierre were incredibly welcoming and utterly committed to making their guests feel comfortable and spoilt in every way. The beds, the lovely linen, the handmade soaps, the art, the books, the surroundings of this beautiful home, set amongst vineyards, were aesthetic heaven!! The dinner was quite simply Michelin star quality in our opinion; never have we eaten home cooked food this good - outstanding care and attention to flavour combinations by Guillaume. Breakfast was a feast in itself - copious quantities of delicious coffee, freshly baked cake, homemade jams, homegrown fruit. We didn’t want to leave. And don’t forget to pop into Pierre’s lovely Brocante barn too…I can’t wait to return!

Positive: What an absolute gem of a place Maison Groleau is! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were made to feel so welcome by our wonderful hosts Guillaume and Pierre that we found it very difficult to leave! On arrival, we were shown around the beautiful maison and told that their home was our home for our entire stay, which couldn't have been more accurate; this really was a home from home experience for us. The maison is beautifully decorated and yet simultaneously super welcoming - often style is to the detriment of comfort - but definitely not in this case. We were travelling for our wedding anniversary and the communication ahead of arrival was amazing, and they were so flexible adapting our plans for changes in the weather and arrival times due to delays to our flight. Guillaume is a brilliant chef and he cooked us the most fantastic 3 course dinner on the night of our arrival which we shared with both the hosts and other guests - an outstanding experience both in terms of culinary delights and great conversation. The rooms are immaculate - every detail has been thought of - and the grounds are so pretty. The weather we experienced was quite changeable - perfect sunshine at times, where we got to explore the grounds and the many outdoor areas, and heavy rain at others where we got to listen to music and chill in their beautiful lounge. The honesty bar is a great addition (all wine is from their own vineyard and all delicious) and a tasty breakfast is prepared for you every morning. As a frequent traveller, I do not say this lightly: this was quite honestly one of the best places we have ever stayed as it offers the rare trilogy of great hospitality, beautiful accommodation + location, at a very reasonable price point. We're already looking forward to our next visit! I'm nervous to post this review in case Guillaume and Pierre become so popular that they won't be able to book us in in future :-) Thank you to you both!
