Positive: We have a very pleasant experience at the Maison Graciateguy The place was very clean and quiet and the hosted Pascale was very friendly and helpful We'll come back in the future

Negative: The surface of the rooms's floor have grainy texture which is too rough and when one walks while in the room the socks get damaged by pulling treads out of them

Positive: Great location as we were hiking the GR10. The room was fine with a small bathroom by American standards but it was very clean and had everything we needed. We had our own toiletries as none were supplied. The bed and bedding were comfortable and clean. Paco, the host, was very friendly. No English was spoken by the host. Our dinner was fresh and delicious: salad, chicken and rice. Wine and beer were offered. In the morning, we had a very nice French breakfast with plenty of hot coffee.

Negative: This was a very minor thing but I point it out only so others don't encounter the same confusion. I had difficulty finding where to wash out my clothes. Eventually, I found a bucket in the back by the outdoor kitchen. It was clean so I used it along with the hose connected to the outdoor kitchen. It ended up working out fine. Afterwards, when the host arrived, I asked him if that was OK and he said yes. There is plenty of space to hang your laundry. Pins were provided.

Summary: Great overnight stay: Clean, good food, good host, great location.

Positive: A very beautiful hotel, with a character and 500 year history which has been sympathetically enhanced by the current owners. Each room is individually decorated to give you a unique experience. If you are walking the GR10 you will enjoy the additional facilities, fridges in the room etc, and the owner's willingness to give you a good and early breakfast, to set you up for the day ahead. Paco even gave me his bike to explore the area after enough walking for one day! If your stay is more of a gentle tour, the village has a good restaurant, a lovely bar serving excellent sandwiches, and an unusual galleried and very ancient church. If I am ever back in the Basque country, this will be the hotel for me, 100%;🙂
