Positive: The grounds and hotel are lovely, spotlessly clean and maintained.

Negative: Staff welcome could have been better, no smiles have a great stay etc. The green emergency exit light in the bedroom was terrible, I tried to turn it off to no avail ruined my nights sleep. In the morning we asked a member of staff where we could get deodorant, it was 5mins at the village shopdown the road, but she directed us to a garage. Overall despite magnificent grounds disappointing.

Positive: Beautiful, peaceful setting. Absolutely gorgeous staircase. Lovely old building with character. Danielle on Reception was amazing. Michael in the Linden Tree Pub was superb and looked after us so well. Really enjoyed our stay

Negative: The carpet was a little bit stained in our room. We stayed three nights. We ate in the Linden Tree each night. The food was ok but not outstanding.

Positive: Our stay felt like a little bit of luxury. On a busy holiday, we stayed three nights here and decided to have one day here just enjoying the hotel. We had a walk, a swim and enjoyed a massage in the spa. We decided to upgrade our room before check in and had the most lovely corner room with views of the gardens and golf course. We had breakfast one morning which we couldn’t fault. The Linden Tree Pub served wonderful food. The hotel staff were excellent - friendly and helpful.

Negative: Hard to think of anything!

Positive: Breakfast was nice with a good view of the golf course. the bed was very comfortable too

Negative: the remote for the tv in the room didnt work and at the end of the night we couldnt get the tv to turn off which somewhat spoiled the nights sleep. there was no phone in the room to contact reception and let them know. this was also an inconvenience when wanting ice for the room for the ice bucket that was provided. the room was too hot and the a/c didnt really make a difference. there was no fridge in the room, this would have been handy. Only one tv in the Linden tree bar, none in the hotel bar, making watching live sport a challenge. Linden tree bar closed promptly at 11pm. Billiards room closed at 10pm, this cut our night short. Our plan was to check out at 11am then use the spa facilities, as we arrived late the night before, they were closed. We were told we`d have to be out of the facilities at 11am too, which was disappointing. We did manage to use the spa area, albeit for an hour.

Summary: good value for money to match the surroundings. Drinks are rather pricey though!

Positive: The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the bed really comfortable The place was so quiet and peaceful- that’s exactly what I needed. The view from our window and the outside of the property was gorgeous, all greenery. The elder guy who works in the hotel Bar (from Italy) was such a lovely man. We talked to him for ages. The guy at the other bar was very helpful when recommending what drinks and things to have.

Negative: The prices are ridiculous. We bought a single & a double rhubarb gin and lemonade and it was £32. We ordered 2 starters, 2 main and 2 pints of larger and it was £96- the food was gorgeous to be fair but the price was a bit steep. Although I expected an ‘old’ building I thought it was a bit too dated. I cannot comment on the spa or pool as I didn’t get to experience it (hubby wouldn’t join me and I wouldn’t go alone). I wanted to book a massage but they finished at 3.30 & we had a day planned and would t be back so I missed my change… I was gutted. Again, my fault though. The bed seemed so small. It was a double and I felt like we had no space at all and my feet seemed to hang off the end.

Summary: Over all I thought it was a nice stay. I wanted peace and quiet and that’s what I got lovely staff & good food. Just
