BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED, EXCLUSIVE-USE LUXURY FARMHOUSE, IN A RURAL SETTING AND ALSO CLOSE TO ALL LOCAL AMENITIES IN THE LOIRE REGION.
Our secluded, lovingly restored old farmhouse is in a peaceful and tranquil south-facing location offering a well equipped, heated, comfortable, exclusive-use family holiday home accommodating 9 guests (plus 2 baby cots). The four bedrooms consist of two double bedrooms, one large family bedroom and one twin bedroom. Our house has two kitchens and two lounges which gives plenty of space for large groups and also enables it to be split into two separate units so that when two families holiday together they can each have privacy if desired.
La Baudiere is built around a large, south-facing, open courtyard which offers stunning views over the local farmland, woodland and our 10x4m swimming pool (heated by a specialist low energy, carbon efficient, solar system, in a secure area with safety-gate access). Beyond the pool is a small, grassy, kiddie play area with swing set, sandpit and various toddler toys.
Our house consists of a large, main kitchen which has a spacious table that can seat up to 12, large oven, 5 ring gas hob, microwave and dishwasher. The second, smaller kitchen seats 4 and includes a washing machine, ironing board etc. We have two spacious lounges, each with UK satellite TV, comfy sofas and coffee tables, bookshelves with a selection of books and games and dvds for guests' use. Both lounges open into the kitchens and also out on to the sunny courtyard.
Outside are two built-in charcoal barbecues for alfresco mealtimes, one is in the pool area with plenty of tables and seating under the shady gazebo, the other is under the front of the open barn with a large table and plenty of chairs .
Large wooden gates at the courtyard entrance ensure privacy and child safety, we have plenty of space outside to park up to 5 cars.
We are situated close to the historical medieval village of Faye la Vineuse with its 9th century church and post office/grocery/bakery depot/shop. There are several beautiful walking and cycling routes for our guests to explore in this area too, suitable for all ages as our countryside is softly rolling with lots of cart tracks and opportunites to see local wildlife such as deer, hares, a wide range of birdlife and even the odd farmer or two...
Nearby are several other villages with restaurants, shops, bakeries. We are ideally located in the Loire region for exploring the beautiful countryside as well as such attractions as horse riding, go-karting, canoeing, zoos, cycle routes and golf courses; the historic towns of Richelieu, Chinon, Saumur, Tours and Poitiers, the famous chateaux of Chambord, Blois, Amboise and Chenonceaux.

Summary: We had a wonderful week at this property, the photos don't really do it justice. The grounds and pool area are immaculate & the house is spacey with everything you need provided. Sue & Steve are excellent hosts and were on hand before and during our stay with recommendations for restaurants, days out etc. We just loved it.

Summary: This is a great house! Very large, very charming, and very complete. Sue and Steve are the best hosts you can imagine: friendly and always willing to help out. The swimming pool is also great (but unfortunately we did not have good weather so we almost have not used it). The internet connection is good enough for basic things such as mailing and browsing, but not for streaming, so it might be a good idea to bring a larger data-bundle if you want to do that.

Summary: Fantastic stay at La Baudiere. Sue and Steve were great hosts and gave brilliant suggestions on local restaurants, activities, chateaus and vineyards. It was my birthday and thanks to their local knowledge we had a wonderful meal in Chinon and a homemade birthday cake . The property was wonderful, peaceful and private. We were a family of 6 adults and 2 children and there were toys to keep the kids busy and the pool had a gate and was fenced off to make sure both were safe. We would definatley recommend La Baudiere to group's looking for peaceful and relaxing holidays in the French countryside. Thanks Sue and Steve for your hospitality!

Summary: We had a great week here, the house was well equipped with everything we needed for three generations of a family. Sue was really helpful advising us on restaurants and other places to visit. Also putting in our order for daily baguettes and croissants to be delivered to the local shop! The pool was lovely and the swing set was a great hit with the children.

Summary: We all had a fantastic week at La Baudiere. Stunning property, excellent facilities, superb hosts (before and during the stay) and wonderful surrounding area. Never been to such a well equipped property and what was truly great was knowing what would be there before we arrived. We have recommended La Baudiere to our friends and family. We enjoyed visiting Samur for the tank museum and shops, Richelieu just to wander, visit the market and have an excellent meal at Auberge Le Cardinal as well just strolling (or jogging) locally. A great week!

Summary: Firstly...WOW! From first booking our holiday with Sue and Steve we’ve enjoyed an absolutely first class experience. Holidaying as an extended family, with three generations (and 4 dogs), we had quite a number of requirements but we found La Baudiere well exceeded all our expectations. From first arriving, the idyllic location of the farmhouse, surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful countryside and the fabulous welcome we received from our hosts, we knew this holiday was going to be something special. Lots of our time was spend having fun in the fabulous pool area or just relaxing on one of the sunbeds and enjoying the glorious sunshine The children also loved the play area which safely catered for a 7 month old baby and 6 year old child Inside, the magnificent large kitchen / dinning room, (which could have been an advert in “house beautiful”), was perfectly equipped with quality appliances, crockery and all manor of pots, pans and serving dishes, everything had been thought of to make this a real home from home. The lovely sitting rooms, all sensitively restored and decorated, were large yet cosy with lots of comfortable sofas. Similarly the luxurious bedrooms, individually styled and enjoying stunning views, were beautifully furnished with plenty of storage space and included fans and hairdryers. We would all like to thank both Sue and Steve for their generous hospitality, warmth and friendship. In addition the assistance Sue provided by booking trips and reservations on our behalf and in particularly for providing much needed support and translation with both medical and veterinary appointments was invaluable You have given us a holiday we’ll never forget. Summary: We were greeted with a very warm welcome from Sue and Steve and their bouncy fury companions Bruno and Elsa. The converted rustic farm house was ideal for our family of three generations, giving the younger generation a kitchen and living room of their own to relax. Our family has always loved on a farm in England so for us it was home from home, a real taste of rustic France. The location is rural, it suited us perfectly, although if you prefer a little more buzz and more glamour, this may not be the place for you. The lovely private swimming pool was ideal for a dip in the very hot climate and well received by our 3 ‘adult’ children, who spend the week relaxing on inflatables in the warm and clean water! The supermarkets and little town is a 10 minute drive away through rolling French countryside. If we were honest most of the Chateaux and towns we wanted to visit were 30-60 minutes drive northwards but the property and owners were so warm and inviting that it was worth the extra drive. Where also told that because it it situated at the southern end of the Loire region that they get much of the hot weather coming up from the South of the country! We made the long drive, 500 miles for to door in one day as we were limited to just a week but the roads were so easy, it was a long day but worth the journey and we would consider doing it again for knowing that you are arriving somewhere so calm, warm and welcoming puts you in the holiday mood from the minute you arrive. Both Sue and Steve took time to book us restaurants and other activities to avoid us trying to stumble through the French lauguage over the phone!!!! Much easier when you can use sign langauge to assist the rather feeble pigeon French!!! The only thing I should mention was that although the downstairs rooms in the old farmhouse were very cool the upstairs rooms in the eves could get quite hot at night in peak heat. And watch your heads on the low beams!!! Overall we loved the whole experience of staying there and would book again!!!

Summary: We were delighted with our holiday. Our hosts had thought of everything to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable. There is so much to explore in this area of the Loire and in a week we scratched the surface only. I so hope that we will be able to return to carry on from where we left off.

Summary: 8 adults and two children enjoyed nearly a week here. The house was superb, very comfortable and really well equipped. The pool was glorious too, heated, covered and beautifully maintained. We used the BBQ everyday and had very sunny weather for 3 days. Although remote and very peaceful Richelieu, only 10 mins away has a good supermarket. There is much to do in the area so we plan to return. Sue and Steve are excellent hosts, helpful without being intrusive - they organised and accompanied the dog's vet check and a lovely surprise birthday cake. Many thanks
