Old Post Office House is a historical stone-built cottage dating back to the 1850s, now beautifully updated to offer guests a luxurious stay for family holidays, romantic breaks and outdoor adventures. Private parking & secluded garden, 2 bedrooms with pull-out guest bed, roll top bath, double shower, luxury bedding and fully equipped kitchen, it has been sympathetically renovated & furnished for a supremely comfortable stay.
The cottage is a perfect base to explore Northumberland with the National Park on the doorstep and easy access to the vast stunning beaches and historical castles of the Northumberland Heritage Coast. Walkers and cyclists will love the tranquility of the valleys and rolling hills, experience the best stargazing in the UK with Northumberland’s pristine Dark Skies or enjoy a game of golf with stunning views in the nearby countryside or overlooking the sea. Cragside and Alnwick Castle & Gardens are all a 15min drive away. The village of Powburn sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills next to the amazing landscape of Ingram Valley. Visit Linhope Spout waterfall, explore ancient hillforts, hike through beautiful hill country along the Pennine Way, or enjoy a picnic by the unspoilt beauty of the River Breamish. Summary: Clean, spacious, charmingly decorated. Handy shop/petrol station and an adventure playground in walking distance.Parking on site. Excellent host who clearly cares about the comfort of guests. We would happily stay there again.

Summary: Our stay at The Old Post Office House was excellent. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well appointed. Enclosed garden great for the dog. Easy access to Alnwick, Rothbury and the coast and close to the Breamish Valley. Great holiday - would definitely use again.

Summary: This cottage really has the wow factor. Lovely and clean. Very comfortable and well equipped. Luxury soft furnishings and very safe enclosed garden for the dogs. Very close to amenities and beaches. Didn’t get too disturbed with the traffic to say it’s a busy little village. Gorgeous bathrooms and huge beds! Great off road parking. Felt like home! And a lovely surprise with a welcome package. Lovely host and always available.. We didn’t want to go home! Would love to return in the future.

Summary: Cant fault a thing with this property, it has everything you need and more within easy walking or driving distance of all sorts of places of interest. It is clean and tidy and very homely with lots of lovely touches including quality bedding and linen. Both ourselves and our dogs were well catered for, happy memories made, thank you Lesley. Garden was big enough to sit out and for dogs but also places nearby to walk them too, was a nice surprise. No fireworks either which was great as one of our dogs is very spooked by them normally.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in the cottage, it was very well equipped, we took a garlic press to find there was even one of those, felt like a home from home. Garden is enclosed which was great for the dogs. Communication with our host was good prior to our stay and on arrival there was a care package left for us, which was very thoughtful. The cottage is in a good location and local attractions like Bamburgh Castle, Craster, Alnwick, Cragside are just over half an hour's drive away, Beamish an hour and you could get to Edinburgh in under 2 hour's. Would definitely stay again.

Summary: Stayed with my sister, friend and prince the pug for the weekend! Perfect location for exploring. Visited Chillingham Castle, Ingram, linhope spout waterfall and Wallington hall. Also walked from the cottage to near by branton nature reserve which was beautiful. Enjoyed Sunday lunch at the wonderful tankerville Arms just a short drive away, fantastic country pub with lovely food and beer garden. Services and convenience shop just down the road. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated with lots of extra touches.... Maps, books, torches, games and a welcome file with everything you need to know. Also a lovely secure garden for the dog. Great communication from Lesley the host. Can't recommend this cottage enough, will definitely stay again.

Summary: I have just spent a lovely few days staying here. The house is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could need. A real cosy home from home. Lesley is a great host- very responsive and welcoming. Within Powburn there is a well stocked shop/service station and a large antique centre. The house is well situated for getting to Cragside and Alnwick/Alnmouth. I would highly received.
