The Lower Batter Farm was like a something from a fairytale, absolutely beautiful with the highest quality furniture and fittings (better than 5* hotels we have stayed at) current pictures don’t do it justice to the place. “Everything was superb. Scenery divine! Facilities sublime! Cleanliness excellent. Bed was so soft and comfortable, lovely toiletries. Luxury of a hot tub and a dome in the fields was grand. Lovely pub close by. Amy and Gavin were great hosts, so welcoming, they went above and beyond

Positive: We loved the unique setting, over a river, with an even more unique window cut into the floor to see this from the cosiness of an amazing little log cabin. The garden and walk up through it next to the winding river goes all the way up to the farm fields which house horses in the distance and also 2 pet sheep that you can go up to pet (sadly were probably sleeping in the pen when we ventured up). We visited the 'globe' in the field too (hadn't booked - just being nosy), this is a great feature for clear nights for star gazing or even watching any local fire work displays later in the year. We stayed for my Wife's Birthday and as a family of 3 with our 4 year old daughter, suffice to say... our daughter thought everything was magical and called it the 'fairy house', which is pretty accurate! We booked the hot tub for a small additional fee, the hot tub is huge, and we got sent a video of how to use it, which was a great help... head torches supplied, too! We didn't need them, though, as the garden had string lights all of the way up past the cabin to the top of the garden. The owners sent us very descriptive, clear instructions of where things were and how to use things along with local pubs and shops, too. The video of how to get to the property from the main road made it all hassle free, and the little touch of a colouring book with colours for our daughter did not go unnoticed and were much appreciated. The local area has lots of lovely local pubs who offer up great food and ales. It is also a short drive from Huddersfield town and not too far from Leeds city centre too - both places we visited whilst staying here.

Negative: Not a lot, really! The property is newly available, and the owners wanted our feedback as staying as a family, which is refreshing. Our only issue was the two skylight windows did not have blinds/covers to block out those summer evenings - meaning a longer bedtime for our daughter - but in hindsight we wished we'd checked in earlier so she could fully take in all the magic and then try to settle her excitement. The owners took this on board when we fed this back, which again is not something you see so often.
