Our hotel is located in the Parc National des Calanques and has a south-facing terrace. LES VOLETS ROUGES - CASSIS is an eco-friendly hotel located on the heights of Cassis (see map). We are proud to be the first hotel in Cassis to have been awarded the ‘Clef Verte’ label and also the only one to have the ‘Esprit Parc National des Calanques’ label. The paths to the Calanques start right from our garden! You'll be staying 4 km from the centre of Cassis (town hall), 13 km from Marseille and 15 km from the Stade Vélodrome. 33 km from Aix-en-Provence and Marseille Provence airport. Free Wi-Fi internet access and private parking are available on site. We propose a breakfast service - sweet continental buffet - every morning (by reservation only - before 6:00 pm the day before for the next day. (optional with supplement) Please note that dogs are welcome at an additional cost! - On request - (The ‘SMALL’ rooms are not suitable for dogs). Our rooms are not equipped with a fridge or minibar. We do not store client goods in the hotel’s refrigerators. No bikes are allowed in the room.)

Positive: Special place in a national park, convenient to calenques, helpful and informative staff, beautiful surroundings almost like "glamping." Proximity of rooms and casual, family-friendly environment made it impossible not to visit with neighbors and we had a great, spontaneous night laughing and drinking wine (later realized "parties" were against the rules, oops).

Negative: The place seemed fussy about rules and there were many -- bit of a walking on eggshells feeling. Mateu was friendly and helpful but the other host was grumpy and intimidating, stereotypically "French" lol (this may not be fair as we don't speak French so our communication was limited). Bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Negative: Check-in instructions were clear, as we arrived late (10 PM) and had to use the online check-in process. However, upon arrival, we found the gate closed with no visible keypad, just a lit-up bell. After trying to figure it out, we called the number, and the gate opened—but we were immediately greeted by an aggressive staff member shouting at us for calling the phone no The staff's reaction was excessive and made us feel uncomfortable. If this had happened in the US, it would’ve felt threatening. We later apologised, but honestly, the owner should address the staff’s unprofessional behavior and also fix the keypad issue. In the dark, the keypad on the outside had no lights, and that's something they need to improve. That said, the rest of the stay went smoothly: * Negatives: USB ports didn’t work, Wi-Fi was patchy, towels weren’t replaced, and Uber wasn’t available (but local taxis can be arranged). Would I recommend? It's a peaceful place, but the staff's attitude left a bad impression, and it made us uneasy about returning.

Positive: Lovely location. Ideal for a quiet stay and local walks. Informal, friendly atmosphere. Pleasant outdoor areas.

Negative: The room was small, not big enough for a longer stay. It's a little too far out of Cassis to walk into the centre.

Positive: Very clean with contemporary touches. Very well located if you will be hiking in Les Calanques.

Negative: The “small room” that we rented was not small, it was minuscule. There were no windows so the only air was from the air conditioner or from leaving the front door open. There was no space in the room for baggage (we had two small carry-on bags that we had a hard time to find space for. One had to be put in the tiny bathroom) or even for chairs to sit on when it was raining (we had a table and chairs outside). The shower was so small that we had to open the stall door to bend over to get the soap or shampoo that had to be kept outside of the shower as there was no space for it inside. I own a small camper van and find it more comfortable than the layout of this tiny room.

Positive: Location is unbeatable, right in the Calanque National Park, you can start alot of hikes directly from the back yard. Plenty of parking at the hotel.

Negative: The walls are paper thin, you can hear conversations from all other rooms around you. Rooms are also incredibly tiny, barely 10-12m2 incl the bathroom.

Summary: Its all about the location, otherwise not worth it
