Positive: The location and view
Negative: Although thé décor was lovely, it was not practical, we stayed 6 days. There was no dresser in the room. Thé fitness room was little more than a place to stretch.

Positive: The breakfast was very nice and there was plenty of choice for the Continental buffet. The cooked choice was limited to either fried or scrambled eggs and bacon. On being asked how liked my eggs, I requested poached eggs only to be told they don't do poached eggs! The location of the hotel is stunning. Perched on a hill over looking the village of Sancerre and the surrounding Loire Valley, one couldn't ask for more.
Negative: It is very hard to find fault with Les Hauts de Sancerre. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The only difficulty was finding anyone to serve us at breakfast. The first morning we waited 10 minutes before someone emerged from the kitchen to take our coffee and hot food order. This is perhaps a training issue but one that can be fixed very quickly. My only other criticism concerns the dinner in the restaurant. The only option for diners is the Chef's four plate tasting menu at 84 euro per head. While this may appeal to "foodies", it doesn't appeal to everyone. I found myself still hungry after the meal, the only saving grace being the amount of bread served between courses. For a hotel of this quality, it should offer an a la carte menu for those of us who prefer a more substantial meal.
Summary: An exquisite hotel in a stunning location with friendly welcoming staff which we will return to!
