Positive: Beautiful house with comfy beds and lounges. Spectacular view to wake up to each morning. Previous reviews mentioned the driveway but although daunting the first time out X-Trail handled it without having to use the AWD. Experiencing this home is well worth it.

Positive: Isolation, wildlife, lovely home with views & the host was generous with supplies and extras. Log fires amazing as is the lake view.

Negative: The very steep gravel driveway from the road to home is treacherous and somewhat unsafe for a 2wd hire car and average driver who has driven 2 or more hours to get there. We had hire motorcycles as well and it was stressful to negotiate the driveway or alternate access lower 4wd track via the boat ramp as recommended. We left the car on the upper road during our stay and used the lower accrss track for the motorbikes. If owners could invest in an all weather driveway it would transform the experience totally.

Summary: Beautiful home - but be prepared for the steep dirt driveway.

Positive: The place was as described absolutely beautiful setting. Driveway is steep but manageable however coming from the east entry road near pub is best 👌 Enjoyed the stay emencely

Negative: Lock box is behind switchboard not visible the one near door on gas had us fooled for a while trying the code bit frustrating in the rain also plenty of firewood but blocked carport so unable to park under cover.

Positive: We recently stayed at Miena Lakeside House and there were some real highlights, along with a few issues that need attention. The main living area is fantastic and the size of the home is great for a group. The view over the lake is beautiful, and having two fireplaces with plenty of firewood made the stay very cosy. The kitchen and appliances were very good.

Negative: There were several practical issues that affected our experience. The driveway was extremely steep and loose — we actually needed assistance to get the car out as the wheels just spun on the surface. On arrival, we had to call to get the code for the key as this hadn’t been provided beforehand. There were no bin bags supplied, which made managing rubbish difficult. Cleanliness and maintenance could also be improved. There were sheets left in the dryer, dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, and the bathroom cupboards were quite dirty. We also noticed two small windows that were cracked. There has been quite a bit of patch and paint work done throughout, and the bedroom styling feels quite dated and could use a refresh. We also found sauce in the cupboard that was out of date. A BBQ would have been a great addition and was something we missed during our stay.

Negative: The place needs some maintenance, eg. We couldn't make most lights work.. And if they add extra charge for cleaning and not little, it's unreasonable to ask guests to take their rubbish with us. A bit embarrassing. They need to resolve their rubbish collection problem rather than ask guests to do so. We wouldn't even know where to bring it, certainly cannot fly with it b

Positive: Lakeside position was fantastic. Fireplace was great and prepared firewood for our stay was most appreciated. A most comfortable house with all the comforts of home.

Negative: As was suggested, our 2WD proved to be unsafe on the steep gravel driveway so we parked at the top which was a little inconvenient with the weather being so changeable. In our opinion, a 4WD is essential.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lakeside Retreat.
