This renovated 2-story 3,000 square-foot home features ample indoor and outdoor space to gather around after a day of boating on Lake James, hiking Shortoff Mountain or even tee time on the property-facing golf course.
Located on the second hole of the Marion Lake Golf Course and only a half-mile distance to the Lake James State Park with boat dock and fishing pier, it's the ideal location for all your golfing and lake adventures! Several boat launch access points are nearby. And the lake beach at Paddy's Creek Campground is just 2 miles away.
This charming vacation home's tasteful nautical-inspired decor and beautiful gardens make it a memorable destination for a dreamy Lake James getaway. Come back from the Lake to a large house with four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms spread on two levels. There is a large master bedroom on the main floor with sliding glass doors that open out to the deck and an on-suite bath. The second bedroom on the main floor sleeps 4 guests, with a queen-size bed and a twin bunk. There is also a separate guest bathroom conveniently on the main floor. At the lower level, there are 2 bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom. The second living area downstairs features a kitchenette, a large flat-screen TV, with Roku streaming options, a pool table, and plenty of lounging space for the whole family.
The fully-stocked kitchen on the main level opens up to a large dining area with a long rustic table - perfect for family dinners. Lounge around the fireplace and play games or catch up on your favorite TV shows on the Roku-enabled TV in the living room. Outside, the spacious deck has a dining area of its own as well as a seating area with a pergola to relax and unwind. While in the yard you can enjoy the golf course views, watch the sunset or spend a memorable evening making s'mores around the fire pit. The landscaping on the property is kept charming and whimsical and features a wide array of azaleas, Japanese maples, wild roses, and perennials.
PLEASE NOTE: While the home is very near the lake (only 1/2 mile), it is not lakefront. Pontoon boats or jet skis are available for rent with companies locally i.e Lake James Boat Rentals or Noah’s Landing. We also have plenty of space in our flat wrap-around driveway to park your own boat, RV, Trailer ect.

Summary: Nice house, but the washer didn't work, and the stove burners /oven were "off" on their settings, so cooking was "complicated" and delayed. Both appliances need to be replaced. Had it not been for a more technologically gifted member of our family than I, we would have had difficulties with the TVs. A "brochure" of instructions would have been helpful, as well as a "stash" of replacement batteries. It was a lovely setting, but the area also needs landscaping attention and clean up. Communication with the host was excellent - until we were charged for damage to a sofa - the photo of which was not the sofa we had (beige, when the sofa was blue?). It would have been oh so helpful to have had more information BEFORE we arrived, as well. In the contract it was stated that there was an inventory that would be checked when we left, but when I asked to SEE that inventory before we packed for the trip, I was told there was no such thing. It would have been nice to know what was actually on hand so that we didn't have to pack unnecessary items. (Here's an example: I asked if there was wood on hand for the fire pit and was told "sometimes" or "usually". So I packed wood and brought it with us. Turns out there was close to a cord of wood right there in the woods.) We did enjoy the area and the house, but those issues did leave us with a less-then-five-star feeling.

Summary: Our group of four siblings and our spouses enjoyed a long weekend at this property, adjacent to a golf course and wooded area. The property manager could not have been more helpful, especially considering we were booking the house at the last minute (the day before--my bad!). The house is well cared for and comfortable, with lovely natural light, and the grounds have a cottage garden feel with endless decks and plenty of seating for enjoying fine weather.
